Mercy, When you feel ready you can begin eliminating gum use by two ways: * Cutting your gum in half * Delaying your use of the gum by using other coping strategies. Keep us posted. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

mercy, I quit using the Chantix a few days ago...no problems, no side effects. auntdeb ps in fact...what cravings I thought I was having must have been trigger thoughts...because they are gone! gonnadoit, Thank you for your straight forward warning and advice. I will take your words VERY seriously. I Have spent some of last week and will continue this week invisioning being with her smoking. I am preparing for every situation. Her sister does not smoke....so that is good. Infact... all the people I know there do not smoke. Just her. I want to be an example for her as I do know she wants to quit. I know she is a little evious I quit. Not in a bad way. I remember I use to feel envious of people that were sucessfully quiting. Maybe.. it was quilt on my part. Though I would like to end my 2 or 3 pieces of gum a day..(kindof ready to move deeper in the quit).... I feel it is better to continue the gum next week. So the rest of this week and next I will use the gum as needed. Then when I return home I will focus on eliminating the nicotine from the gum. Thanks again. Anyone elses opinion I would appreciate. Mercy ahhhhh sunny Florida..... here I come. I leave March 27th. Its like zyban. It seems as though it takes away the want to smoke, and maybe makes you a little sick to the stomach as well. I am trying to get info on it for my mom as she is thinking about quitting at the moment. So then what happens when you go off it. Does the desire to smoke return? Are there dangerous side effects like zyban? Is it one pill a day. How long do you take it? Can it be taken permenately? I have not even seen commercials for this. I have never heard of it before. Interesting. I am doing very well on the nicorette gum. I have just 2 maybe three pieces a day. I was even biting them in half. I think I would try to quit the gum...but I am going on a vacation to Florida next week and there is a best friend that smokes. I know I will not. I will be prepared...but I just know iside I won't. I want my friend to quit. Still...... I felt it better to have the gum till I return home rather than eve take a chance of blowing anything. I keep hearing about this chantix. What is it? Is it like wellbruton..or zyban? Do you need a script with it? I too have found great success with Chantis. As they say it does not let the nicotine bind to the receptors therefor making smoking non rewarding so to speak. At one time I did try Zyban it is a antidepressant and I personally didn't like the way I felt taking it. I have not had any real side effects with the Chantix.A little upset stomache if I don't take it with food but otherwise all is good. I am one of those that tried everything including hypnosis. So happy to find something that worked. NO mercy, it's not really like Zyban or Wellbutrin. It will make you forget about smoking. I just stopped taking it 3 days ago and have no side affects. Just type it in the search bar and you can find out all the information you need on it. It has to be prescribed, it is not a nicotine replacement. the state of Ohio just passed a smoking ban in the last primary making it virtually illegal to smoke in public....so Chantix for me and others....is a miracle come true. can you imagine nurses and doctors....not being able to smoke anywhere at their facilities? I can tell you from personal experience...it's the best product on the market...and I have tried them all except Laser therapy. I even had Hypnosis once. Some attest that it is expensive...it didn't cost me as much as cigaretts did! Ask your doctor about it! auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,838 Amount Saved: $361 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 13 Mins: 24 Seconds: 11

I am using it and it has been helpful but you still have to "do the work". I have not had any of the few side effects mentioned like nausea though I was a little sleepy the first few days but that has now subsided. Good Luck !
