That was a lovely read. Completely agree with you! :) I know just what you mean Sharon. I feel more in control of my life. As though it is me who makes the decisions now and not dependent on the bloody weed. I have to deal with problems on my own without needing anything else to get me through. It is liberating. :) Claire xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 513 Amount Saved: 110 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 14 Mins: 0 Seconds: 55

Sharon, that is soooo true. What a great way to put it. It's almost as if we were in this nicoteen fog for so many years, just going through the motions until our next nicoteen fix. Congrat's to you for over 40 days!! Awesome job!!! This is my three week pep talk for those of you with less days than me into your quit. Is it easy to quit...not all the time. You have your good moments and your bad ones. One day, I feel like I'm on top of the world, and the next day, all I can think about is having a cig. But today is a new day, and I feel great. It's the today's that I live for. Today, I am smoke free for 20 days. Today I remind myself that I am quitting for better quality of life and to get rid of an addiction that eventually will kill me if I continued to smoke. I'm doing this for myself, for my kid's, for my family and for my friends. I want to watch my kid's get married and see my grandchildren be born, and then marry themselves. I want to take vacations with my husband and my friends and I want to see another 60 or 70 more Christmas mornings. I can't do any of this if I am sick or dieing from smoking. To the newbies....it does get easier, but you will still have moments of cravings, but remember when you get a craving, it will pass, and tomorrow is a new day, and with tomorrow, you have a renewed HOPE that you made it one more day without smoking, and by each craving that you fight through and make it through you and your body and mind are a little stronger for the next one. Today, we all have HOPE that we can beat this addiction. We just need to take it one day at a time, and if a craving hit's today, just think about tomorrow morning...because tomorrow morning always brings new HOPE!!!! Oh Kaitilina, You hit that on the bulls eye. Because of HOPE I was able to make it 173 days. I love the freedom of not having to rush outside or leaving a family function to smoke. Last night I spent the entire evening decorating my tree WITH my kids this year. Instead, I watched nicodemon get my hubby and he lost out of spending time decorating. I am so upbeat about this and know without hope, there is nothing. Newbies, your craves do lesson. Believe me, it does get better. Now I look at smokers and dont crave, I am saddened by the control nicotine has over them. I am happy that isn't me anymore. I will beat this and you can too!! Hugs and Happy Holidays!! Hey Kaitilina Great post - congratulations on 20 days!!!! For myself I love being smoke free because I believe a little part of me was dead while I smoked - I didn't have to wait for a disease. What I mean was my sense of self respect and self belief was killed by smoking. Now that I have quit I feel really good about myself. I feel positive and I feel that I am able to do things that I might not have thought possible 6 months ago. It's gain all round isn't it. Keep going Kaitilina - you are doing great.
