Depression/anxiety

I heard lots of bad stuff about Paxil too--but that's the same with every drug. Prozac and Celexa are supposed to be good for depression. I have expierence with Prozac, no bad side effects. Most people with panic disorders become depressed BECAUSE of their "issues" ie. not feeling comfortable going out, scared of reoccuring panic attacks, not feeling "normal". I'm one of the most upbeat people I know--but lately have been MAJORLY depressed. I know that it's because of my panic disorder. I'm getting really upset about not being comfortable leaving the house--my boyfriend doesn't like it either--he hates just "sitting around" at my place. Just keep in mind that most of the drugs out there that state that they help with panic AND depression do NOT. More than likely you will need to be on two different types of meds--especially if you had the panic disorder before the depression. There are 100's of meds out there to try...and everyone is affected differently by all of them. Just remember: IT JUST TAKES TIME to find what's best for you!! Good luck in your hunting!!

Please Please Please reseach PAXIL! I was on it for just a few months and after researching it, weaned off of it. For unsolicited advice, quit paxil gradually and research it! It is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE drug!!!!

shedav, I have had depression with my anxiety too. Apparently they kind of work together. If you suffer from one of them you are also likely to develop the other. the paxil is supposed to help with both. Maybe you should call your doctor and get an earlier appt. You probably need to increase your meds. It took me several increases on the zoloft before it really worked well and of course I still have days where I feel worried and anxious but I don't panic anymore and the depression is gone. Let us know how things go.

Yes, I have this problem as well. I have comorbid Panic Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. Currently I am taking 50 mg of Zoloft, which is supposed to treat both anxiety and depression, but I have to say that for me, Zoloft has had no effect. I also take a half mg of Clonazepam daily. You are wise to speak to your psych. ASAP, and I pray you will find a fast and adequate way to cope with this.

Thank you Susanne and trish..... I will ask about all of it at next appt. I am tired of feeling this way and it inhibits my recovery from my relapse

Shedav6, Usually paxil can be used to treat both anxiety and depression symptoms. You're doctor will discuss which medication is best for you at your next appointment. It may be necessary to change the dose or try an alternative medication. Susanne

I have heard alot of people having good results with taurine, its a herbal supplement, and does not effect with benzo's etc, like St. John's Wort, etc. You may want to check into that area.

Anyone else experience these together?? I recently been having depression with mine. I have alot on my plate right now with friends moving and hubby looking for orders. I don't think the paxil is working like it used to so set up a psych appt for 2/9. If you do have depression do you take something for it in addition to the meds for the anxiety?
