A New Year's Resolution

Hi Peteg, My scheduled date to be smoke free is 12/31/06, I have tried several times and hopefully this time I can be successful and stick to it. I too do not want hugs and cuddles I want straight forward honest support. I know the pros and cons of smoking what I dont know is how to reach my goal/my wish of being a non-smoker. I just feel like rambling, thanks for the time. Debbie

You did sort of drop out of sight, now that you mention it. But what you say makes sense (well, except for the hugs and cuddles part). We do all need to take breaks from various parts of our lives sometimes, don't we? No hugs or cuddles from here because you asked so very nicely, but the support is still very much there. Congratulations on your 60 days -- that's awesome! Welcome back. Keep the faith. No reply is necessary except to let you know that I am touched by your gratefulness to this site as are we all and your wanting to give back is a great reminder of why we are all still here and at various stages of healthy breathing. 60 days is monumental and your doing something giving with that gift, for which you fought so hard, is meaningful. I'm at 60 days today, and I would not be here without this group. I hit some kind of weird place where the hugs and cuddles are strangling me, and I just want some straight talk. Toward that end, I am now promising to do a better job of welcoming the new members and doing a better job of supporting them, as I have been so supported by everyone here. Just felt like I should say that. No reply is expected. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 60 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,048 Amount Saved: $330 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 16 Mins: 11 Seconds: 15

Thanks,I'mallclear -- you hit the nail on the head; kinda makes me remember the end of Mary Poppins. I am the only person I know who was absolutely traumatized by the end of that movie --- Mary Poppins just sort of floats away and no one notices because they're all about their own lives. I confess that for a while I was thinking a lot more about myself than about this site, which is hugely responsible for my being smoke free today. I was feeling a lot like Jane and Michael (well, maybe more like Michael) who didn't give a whit whether Mary Poppins lived or died. There's a piece of advice floating around here that I really like: "Take what you need and hold it close," but that doesn't give me permission to take what I need and then walk away. YIKES, pontificating again!! My sin is ever before me!! But besides, how much fun are those shenanigans in Indianapolis with "Wendi" and "Robb?" I mean, come on, who are they really?? I absolutely have to stick around for when the real husband finally finds out what the wife is really doing. (Whoops --- there goes another perfectly good post, probably.) peteg Happy New Year to you and to everyone here -- lifesavers, all.
