No you havent lost your mind. Xanax's patent was up few years ago, making way for a host of pharmaceutical companies to make the generic brand Alprazolam, mine are round too, have been last year or so. Mine is now made by Mylan, others are Geneva, etc. It depends on your pharmacy and where they get their orders from now.

Speaking of Xanax... I just got a new prescription for it...but it's been a while since I've had one. The last time I had any...they were orange and oval-shaped. The ones I have now are round and pinkish. Is this how it's sposed to be?? Or am I freaking out? The milligrams haven't changed or anything...are they a new shape now?

Xanax saves me if I am having a panic attack, but you really have to watch the dosage. If you are getting shaky or irritable you might be becoming addicted, so you might want to talk to your doctor about that.

The only thing I can tell you is if you take Xanax without an anti-depressant it can get you really depressed. Most of the time this kind of meds just calm you down without really affecting your mood. It is a short acting medication, a tranquilizer. The mood swings could be your body adjusting to the anti-depressant which is what regulates your mood. When I took Remeron a couple of years ago it didn't give me mood swings, it just made me really blah. Nothing really botehred me and I rarely even laughed. But I never noticed anything extreme being on any of this meds. Oh wait, when I got off the meds on my own cold turkey a couple of years back, (I was taking klonopin and Remeron) I did have mood swings for about 2 weeks but I think those were withdrawl symptoms.

Hi there, I've just found this board and I'm trying to get some personal experiences regarding medication. I've had PD for twenty years- diagnosed at fourteen. I was put on xanax(only meds at that time) and now am on Paxil and tapering off the xanax. What I was wondering was how many ppl out there are on xanax, and if so, did you /have you noticed you are more irritable/angry/have mood swings? I only ask because...long story, but I'm very low on my xanax now and I'm not sure if it was that, or the paxil has curbed my outbursts(I did have a sad upbrining, does that count? =)) but I wanted to learn as much as I can. I read online from upjohn that angry, mood swings, mania ARE sideeffects of this drug, but nothing was mentioned to me as a kid(well, my parents) I'm very happy with PAxil, despite the weight gain. Oh well! What other meds have you all been on? What side effects did you experience? Zoloft, Imipramine, Halcion,...god...sooo many...Thanks!
