Exercising- how to?

I feel running helps me control the weight the best and it also reduces a lot of anxiety.

I like the idea of exercise tapes - they're also good when the weather's bad too. If that's the way you're leaning, I'd suggest a variety - for example, I have yoga, kick-boxing, aerobics, tai chi, and...shhhhh...don't tell anyone....belly dancing!! Belly dancing is supposed to be very good exercise, but be prepared: the first time I did it, even though I was alone, I felt so silly that I couldn't stop laughing! But it is fun, and hey, you never know when that'll come in handy! ;p

Dear Darkhorse, There is a lot of things you can do at home. any chance of getting your hands on a treadmill or stationary bike? If not, try walking up and down stairs or even trying to go just around your neighbourhood. The running won't help the sore knees. Susanne

I've never tried it but people swear by Yoga for just about everything! You may want to look into that aswell.

You may want to change your diet - for example a higher protein, lower carbohydrate diet. I have been on that diet for three years, lost about 25 lbs. I don't do too much exercise due to a busy schedule and it seemed to work for me. It will help you change your metabolism. How about some exercise tapes at home?

Like most people, age is getting the better of my weight. I am an athlete, but I need to cross train to stay fit- trouble is,when I leave the house- my home 'zone' isn't very far by foot- I want to try to stay fit, but I can't keep jogging on the spot- kills my knees. What do you all do to try and stay fit? I found an extra thirty pounds has crept up to me over the past six years- from Paxil and a slower metabolism- but also a more sedentary lifestyle due to not being able to do anything. I'm finding the weight much harder to shed and I wondered if any of you had any tips?
