Ann, Sorry..didn't mean to frighten you. The symptoms you were describing are very common to those who experience anxiety. I was just concerned because you had not experienced the symptoms before. It it was a flu, you would know it, you would feel miserable. If you want to put your mind at ease, go to a walk-in-clinic. Let me know how it goes. Susanne

Thanks guys for the replies. Susanne, you have frightened me by saying it could be gastrointestinal flu, as I have just checking it out on the internet and it says it can be serious and life threatening. I have tried to get an appt with the doctor, but there are none till after christmas!

HTH- Hope this helps Ann, On a light note here, when I attended a support group, we were told, if we have bouts of diarrhea, or generalized stomach cramps without fever, overeating, etc. that this was an indication of stress induced anxiety. Which I have very often, and sure enough its mostly on the days of more pronounced anxiety, I belch too. I am so glad you posted again, I had wondered since your last post how you were doing. Yawning- alot of panic sufferers experience "air hunger", the yawning to feel the need to get more air into your lungs, even though we seem to be breathing ok. It is a scientific fact that PD is being more in a hyperventilation syndrome. It is not pronounced enough to realize we are subconsciencely breathing more rapid to notice this, and is constricted in the chest area, not the abdominal breathing which is correct and when we are in a complete anxiety free and relaxed state.

Ann, I have heard that when people are anxious they tend to produce more gas. I would get this checked out by your doctor, it sounds like a gastrointestinal flu. Susanne

Oh, P.S., I don't usually burp a lot, but do yawn a lot when I'm anxious. HTH!!

I get the diarrhea quite bad when I'm anxious, nothing unusual for me! In fact , I aslo have IBS that acts up at times after several straight days of high stress. I usually try taking 1/2 of an immodium tablet to help with "the runs", which seems to help most of the time.HTH!!

hehe Yeh I do burp a lot when I'm anxious. Also get diarrhea after I've had a panic attack. Feeling sick is probably the diarrhea and anxiety combined. I also yawn a lot when I'm feeling nervous. Yawning sometimes makes me burp or get hickups. I think the burping is due to interrupted breathing with anxiety. I'd say it's probably nothing. Apart from me I know a couple people who suffer diarrhea with anxiety. Get it checked out though, if you're worried. Doc could recommend you introduce something to your diet to reduce diarrhea. I've been told green apples and yogurt help diarrhea. Don't know if it's true and I don't know what's so special about green apples either lol. But you might want to give it a try anyway. Take care. :)

Does anyone burp a lot when they are anxious? I have been really anxious this last week, and I keep burping all the time, feel sick and diarrhea. Does anyone else ever have this? Or could there be something else wrong with me???
