FINALLY, I am OFF all sources of Nicotine (Patch)

Moqueen, I'm so proud of you and a little jealous...I have contemplated just throwing down the patches and toughing it out....but then the reasonable self brings me back to reality and I will finish my course of patches...but the point is to be nicoteen free eventually. How we get from Point "A" to Point "B" makes no difference. Congratulations on being nicoteen free!!! That is HUGE!!!!!! Moqueen, I agree totally with Danielle.. Try it out without the patches but if you feel the need to go back and finish the entire course do it. I know when I stepped down to 7 mg I was doing very well but then I hit a point where a major stress was thrown into my plan where I could have easily just bought a pack of cig's - SO instead I went back up to the 14 mg KNOWING that it would keep the craves at bay until I was ready once again to step down. I guess what I'm saying is, this is great if you can cut the patches short, but don't feel badly if you need to start wearing them again until you finish the course of treatment. I wish you all the best.. and as Danielle said, turn to your coping tools that you used at the beginning of your quit. Friday, I forgot to change my patch which I normally do in the mornings and I realized this at 5pm. So I decided to continue without patches. I was almost finished them anyways. So now this is my 3rd day and even though I don't feel like smoking, Geez am I ever irritable.... Staying smoke free and trying now to kill anyone, just for today. Hi Mo - Well let me play devil's advocate....I think that going off the patches too soon can be a problem but at 82 days, you must have been almost ready to go "patch free" anyway. I noticed that I was more irritable dropping from 14 mgs to 7mgs. I did not notice a big difference between 7 mgs and nothing. Personally, I think that I could have quit them sooner than I did. I have gone through some irritable phases too but I don't think they are related to nicotine withdrawal....I stopped the patches about 3 weeks ago so that old nicotine should be long gone. All the best on your journey to freedom! I agree with Phil, Cheermom, Monica.... We should protect our quit at all costs, and those NRT aids (patches, gums, lozenges) are handy when needed, as the last line of defence against any possible attack from that Nicodemon! In my case, although it's now Day 107, I still keep my NRT lozenges (although I haven't touched them for several days) and occasionally, I still need one or two puffs from the NRT inhaler ... :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 107 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,077 Amount Saved: $535 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 0 Mins: 22 Seconds: 43

Sounds like you are doing real well without. Nic or no nic, there are days I want to hurt someone :eg: Imagination is a wonderful thing! You can't get arrested for fantasies!
