Puzzles and walks are great ways to fight a crave. Like you, last night, sleep finally did mine in. Coming in here to read and post, hot baths... whatever it takes. You did great! Congratulations! :)Pat. Many, Many congrat.s to you! Every crave is a fight and passing one with something that might help to maintain strength for future craves is a really nice bonus. Proud of you! You go, Valic!! Good job! Can you imagine how you would have felt had you given in? Today was oddly rough for me as well... just exhausted from the Christmas madness (including doing all of the services as well as working a "real" job during the week), and between that and the quit, I think I was just worn down. Plus, I remembered some guy, way early in my own quit, who wrote in to say that he smoked after a 70-day quit. I couldn't believe it; I was so grateful to him for sharing that; it's made me really careful of the pitfalls. Me, I don't have another quit in me. This one has to be it. I hope the same for you! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,148 Amount Saved: $341 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 0 Mins: 33 Seconds: 11

Congratulations, Valic! You would have felt terrible, wouldn't you, if you had smoked, as well as have the argument. You did extremely well - you star! Thanks everyone for your helpful responses! Yes I want this quit to be the one more than smoking that is the key! It does get better even if we have our ups and downs. Today is just one of those days but I keep thinking of my hot bath when I get out of work. It is one of the few nights that I am not working my 2nd job! Got to reward myself when I can! lol. So thanks everyone gold stars for all!! ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $328.6 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 10 Mins: 45 Seconds: 48

Hi y'all, I have been reading lots and noticed alot of newbies starting that is awesome. Last night I fought a huge crave triggered by a fight with my hubby. I thought I would post and tell everyone what I did maybe it would help someone else. First always fighting with hubby is a trigger and stress made me cave last time. So after the big fight I sat and I steamed and the junkie came around saying have a cig you will calm right down. And I did have a small thought to run to the gas station. But then thought no way I have a great quit going! So first I started a new puzzle (one of those 1000 piece puzzles) Did that for an hr but old nic was still there. So even though it was very chilly in Boston last night I went for a walk. That helped a little but Nic was still on my shoulders (but in a softer voice now). I just said to myself not one puff ever and I kept repeating it. Then I decided to really distract myself and just go to bed. That shut Nicodemon up fast! And today is much better. I did make up with hubby before I went to bed, we have an agreement never to go to bed angry with each other and he even complemented me on not smoking. My point is that like everyone says craves pass, sometimes it takes 5 min. sometimes a hole night but they do pass. And now next time I will think about doing my puzzle before a cig because I am training my brain that cigs are not the answer. Sorry so long, hope it helps, and keep your quits at all costs! ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 293 Amount Saved: $307.4 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 2 Mins: 6 Seconds: 21
