Im well into my second day of non-smoking so I can't really say to much but Im glad you decided to quit and I wish you the best of luck.. Are you going to be using the patch, nicorette gum or anything of the sort? Katie - Yep. Smokers wreak. That's the first thing I noticed. Not to put a damper on anyone's quit but I personally haven't noticed any other immediate health improvements (i.e. breathing, energy, etc.) since I've quit...I'm sure I'm healing well on the INSIDE, though) ;). Keep coughing, hang in there and good luck! Katie...the sense of smell is what I love the most. What I have learned...Food smell's amazing (hence my third butt cheek), my son isn't allowed to have cabbage or beans EVER again, and I don't need to bathe in perfume to cover up the hideous ashtray smell. I'm so happy your noticing the changes right now...imagine when you are no longer smoking...there is whole world out there that your new found senses are going to love! Hold onto the positives during your first few weeks to get you through. Your going to be just fine! I am amazed at how quickly our bodies start responding to good clean air. I have greatly reduced my nicotine intake for the past 3 days patiently waiting for my official quit date to arrive. I have already noticed remarkable changes. I am starting to experience somthing happening in my nose that feels like little tickles every now and then, I have started having this nasty cough that tastes awful. I have a scratchy feeling in my throat and the need to clear my throat alot. Is it already happening am I starting the process of becoming a non-smoker? I hope so, I am getting excited just knowing how quickly things start to clear up and out of our tar and nicotine saturated bodies. The weirdest thing I just noticed is that my co-worker just returned from her afternoon break she absolutely took my breath when she walked by me. I was almost nauseous feeling. So now I am getting a little nervous but alot excited about the changes that are about to over take my body and life style. Katie, Thats great that you are excited about your quit a good additude helps alot! I noticed the good changes a week into my quit, no phlem in my throat, no tightness in my chest. So just keep with your quit date and the benefits get better and better. I can now get up a flight of stairs with out feeling winded and have more energy than I know what to do with lol. It just keeps getting better. I will look for your posts ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 353 Amount Saved: $371 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 0 Mins: 44 Seconds: 41

Welcome. The smell of smoke on smokers is awful!!! That is one of my reason not to smoke among others. Breathing, taking those long deep breaths without coughing ;p There are so many wonderful surprises in store for you.
