Bodily Feelings

21 years ago 0 37 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Right now I'm sensitive to any "tingly" feelings in any part of my body: when my foot falls asleep, when my legs feel weak, when my arms feel numb... etc. I notice every little tingle. I sometimes wonder if I have a disease that could be "spreading" or that I have something horribly wrong with me. But chances are that I'm fine and it's just panic symptoms. But yes, I feel you on the hypersensitivity to symptoms :)

This is a problem for me right now, too. Every little twinge, stretch, tingle, any sort of sensation in my body, makes me pause and wonder if it's the panic coming on. And you can't run from your own body unfortunately. I have decided that I cannot continue to worry about each little thing my body does, I will drive myself nuts. After all it's alive and those movements or sensations that I feel are not going to go away. I know that they have been there all my life, I think I notice them now because I am looking for signs of panic. I have decided that when I feel a sensation of any sort I will stop momentarily, actually notice it and feel it, and then I'm going to assume that ALL sensations are just symptoms of anxiety. All sorts of sensations are caused by anx. I have been doing this for a few days now, and it's getting a little easier. I'm still not comfortable with the idea, but I am doing it anyway. If I fall down dead from a symptom, that's when I will know I wrong about it! LOL! I don't know if this is the right approach or not, but I do know that I will never rest or have peace as long as I stress over every little stupid sensation. I hope this helps you, I feel for you, I am in the same leaky boat!

Ok, my panic began when I had a severe allergic reaction to a medicine. I was alone trying to find my husband and kids who were out for Halloween. I still feel the 'scary feelings' from that night and was hospitalized for the near allergic reaction. My question is this, that happened nearly 4 years ago. Why do bodily symptoms still give me that 'don't move' feeling? I logically know that nothing is wrong. My first inclination is that something is wrong, like I have to monitor my body as if Halloween night were happening all over again. Does anyone have any suggestions how to overcome this? It's almost a Post traumatic stress situation. We are biological beings and we will feel things within our body, ie a gas bubble here in the gut, a overstretched leg muscle, a hand cramp etc...so imagine the anxiety if we react to each thing everytime we feel a twinge? I don't remember feeling twinges before panic although I'm sure I did...Any thoughts? Thanks,
