CBT?? Bio-feedback?

21 years ago 0 239 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
CBT focuses on challenging your anxious thoughts and rationalising them. Biofeedback is the same thing only focussing on your physical symptoms rather than your mental state. Both are about rationalising panic situations through attitude based on reality rather than fear. They’re both safe techniques to learn and use in conjunction with each other. The aim is to unlearn irrational fear.

Shedav6, the Panic Program on this site is exactly that, a CBT program that you can do by yourself. Besides it's totally free. All you have to do is sign up for it. Click on the link at the left and begin any time.

Ok they sound similar kinda. I have heard different things about biofeedback and its effect on anxiety. Is it safe? My fam practice dr's have twice tried to get me to do it. I have heard you can do CBT on your own through self help books if you have mild anxiety but its always best to get a professional to administer it. So what is involved in each? Are they onlgoing or are they just a few sessions?

Hi. Good question! If you click on the Panic Glossary under Library at the left of the page, you'll find a definition and description of the terms.

What exactly is Cognitive behavior therapy? Is it the same as biofeedback? If not what is biofeedback? Can they be used in conjunction with medication?
