This site gave me so much determination, I moved my quit date up before I lost that big urge to QUIT! Good luck to you!

I have been reading postings on this site for 2 days now and I feel like I'm getting the strength I need to quit. There is a lot of info on here about what to expect and how to react. I have gained strength from the replies to my "help" posting and I know that I'm going to need encouragement for the next few days if not weeks!! Thanks everyone... My Dear Crabby (and who couldn't love someone with such an endearing name!!) --- The site is indeed to die for, but it will not give you want you need to quit. Do not look for that here, because you won't find it here, there, or anywhere. Call me Glenda, the Good Witch of the West: what you need to quit is inside you -- always has been. (Peteg waving his sparkly wand... spreading magiv wherever he goes...) Seriously, no one reveres this site more than I, but this site can't help you quit. That has to come from deep with yourself. The magic and wonder of SSC is the people who will support you once you have chosen to take those first crucial steps. Me, I'm 53, smoked for 40+ years, quit more times than I care to admit, and all the "evidence" says you have to have a support group to maintain your quit. Not me... I'm not into group stuff, even though I do it for a living. (Hey, if I can make it work for the group, it doesn't have to work for me; my job is the group.) But this group not only works for me, I could not have gotten this far without them. No doubt. No question. This group is keeping me smoke-free, even though spouse and I went out for a to-die-for New Years dinner tonight, and I couldn't help but think how great a smoke would be afterward, then I thought, EWWW! NOT!!! Now, very slight buzz going (wine with dinner, Irish Coffee afterward), sitting at the old keyboard, thinking, ah, chill; not Miller Time, but Camel Light time for me. Not. Facing spouse, kids, and maybe most significant of all, this incredible group of people keeps me from caving. Find and name the impetous (??) in yourself, Crabby (I'd call you Ms. *****, but our moderators have itchy delete fingers and this post wouldn't survive), and then let the wonderful people here hold you up as you move through the various stages of withdrawal and new life. We will not let you down, I promise. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,192 Amount Saved: $346.5 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 15 Mins: 53 Seconds: 22
