Feeling Crazy

21 years ago 0 148 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have been feeling lately like I will never get myself back from this. I am so frustrated by it all. I fall asleep and immediately wake with anxious feelings. I am not even given a fighting chance. Its scaring me. I hate the feelings.

Garm, I know exactly what you're talking about in the area of vision changes. Everything looks different...sort of unreal...during a panic attack. I think it probably has a lot to do with regular physiological reactions to fear. I'll bet the pupils enlarge. We're really just a particular kind of animal and have the same physiological reactions as animals do in a life-threatening situation: increased adrenalin, heart rate, etc., all preparing the animal to either "fight" or "flee." The good old "fight or flight" response. I did go through a period during my panic attacks (one of the worst periods) when I would have "crazy thoughts" during a panic attack, similar probably to your hallucinations. I would see myself in my "mind's eye" for a fraction of a second doing something crazy like attacking someone, taking off my clothes, etc. I really thought I was going crazy for sure. Finally, I learned to trust that these things were not going to happen. After I lost my fear of the "crazy thoughts" they disappeared. Hope my story helps you to feel better. Don't worry. You're not crazy nor will you go crazy. This is just another horrible "symptom" of a panic attack.

As of late, i have been having some very strange symptoms and i would like to know if any of you have any of these. For one, i have been feeling lightheaded a lot lately. Like just about all day everyday for the past week. On top of that, my vision plays weird tricks on me. For example, i was in Wal Mart yesterday, and i was walking around and the way the lighting is, my eyes started to feel like they were about to bulge out of my head. It became hard to focus on something because my vision would "jump" everytime i went from paying attention "inside" to "outside", if you get my meaning. And another thing that has been worrying me, and i need to know this to save my sanity, but, do any of you ever see things that aren't there? Every so often i will have a quick but detailed hallucination of something. They have always been the exact same thing. They look like my friend running behind something, and they go away after a split second.
