Hi lily when ever you get that thought that you want to smoke change that thought to I am glad I am not smoking because I smell so much better. I am only on day one but I did quit for 3 years. I thought 1 puff wouldn't hurt WRONG!!!!! I puff leads to smoking all over again. jnine

Lily: I'm a Chantix quitter, too, and it has been extremely helpful. But the most important thing for me is that I will not allow myself to fall into the "I want to smoke so bad" trap. And it is a trap. That self-talk leads you to believe you are depriving yourself -- that's the addiction talking -- don't listen! Jnine is right -- change that thought into "I'm SO glad I don't smoke." Hang tough -- you're doing great. Keep the faith. Hi everyone, I'm new to the board!!!!! although I have been lurking here since Oct. I've done the program to the left, research the site tons of great information. Anyways I've been a smoker for 20 yrs. I've tried to quit numerous times cold turkey lasted 3 days, then I use the patch with wellbrutin that didn't work I got depressed while taking the med. Which led me to Chantix I've been off of nic for 11 days. I'm not craving nic just the constant thought of "I want to smoke" I hope it gets better seems I'm in a constant battle with myself. My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 175 Amount Saved: $33 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 20 Seconds: 49

I'm a Chantix quitter as well. Do you think it is craving or is it more like a thought, out of habit? I still have thoughts...but they are brief. Certainly not a crave or desire. Kind of like 'I used to smoke after I swept and mopped the kitchen floor'... Let us know how it is going. I hope it gets easier soon! Welcome Lily- It sure does get better, but for now, stay in the moment and just hold on tight... We're all right here with you - day or night... This addiction is one tough, powerful addiction AND you are more powerful than it is... Just make up your mind that your desire to quit is stronger than your desire to light up, and the rest is just the rest...
