My quit seems too easy.

This is only my first day, but my 5th time trying to quit...and I'm getting the same vibe. So far...so pretty good. Not nearly as bad as in the past...maybe because I knew what to expect. I did use Zyban one time, and honestly, that was my longest quit!!! It was so easy when my quit day came....my mistake was going off the zyban to early....so be careful when you go off the zyban...I've tried the zyban since then, and it didn't work the same way as it did that very first time. And maybe, you were just really really ready to quit this time...like I am. Good Luck to you.... Phil thanks for posting, I have been quite curious as to why this didn't seem alot harder, even with the patch. Smoked for 28 years and have only quit for a day or a couple of hours at a time, on my fourth day and not grouchy, tired or as far as I know obnoxious. Well, I'm on day 12 and going strong. I blew past the hardest 3 days and then the first week just as easily. On a scale of 1-10 (10=worst) my worst craving has been only about a 3 or 4 tops and it somes and goes quickly. If it stays like this or even improves, I can really see myself quitting for good and moving on. Trust me, I'm not complaining...but in the back of my mind this quit seems "too easy" and I'm almost waiting for the other shoe to drop at any time. However, by no means am I letting my guard down and becoming over confident or setting myself up for an easy relapse. My first quit for 6 months in 1995 was much harder. I did use the patch-but only for 2 weeks until it made me nauseated. After that it was essentially cold turkey. Perhaps this quit feels easier since I'm on the Zyban + Nico gum. I dunno. I probably shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyone have this feeling as well? One thing I thought when I read your post,Phiber, was that it will be easy for you to think you can have just one because, hey, it wasn't too hard to quit. This is the trap I have stepped in three or four times in the past. And it always happens to me when I am well past withdrawl symptoms. I figure I will have one and then no more. It has NEVER worked for me that way. I always end up eventually smoking again. I'm glad it's going well for you. Maybe it is the Zyban this time. I don't know I've never tried the support meds. Hi PO! I have to agree that there seems to be some correlation between attitude, positive thinking, and determination. I do not think anyone can quit unless their desire to quit is stronger than their desire to smoke. I keep holding on to the fact that when I smoked all I wanted to do is quit, and now I HAVE, so I don't want to go back to wanting to quit ever again, so I'm keeping quit. And that makes it pretty easy over all. And I think we should wait for the other shoe to drop, because you never know what life is going to toss at us, and it's still one day at a time! Welcome to the pursuit of freedom! Hi Phiber - enjoy the journey. Some members have had relatively easy quits and you may be one of those. The past couple weeks have been much calmer for me and I have been very grateful for that, but I keep my "Survival tools" ready if needed in the future. (Stepping down to last stage of patch tomorrow...so might be ready for a good rant by Friday!) Congrats on a great job! Phiber Optik, That is great, that you are doing well. My first month was rough. Life also threw me all sorts of curveballs at that time. After that was ok. Until today. I am manageing though. this to shall pass. You may be one of those lucky people who just quit.. Good for you if you are. However if something does creep up on you, you know where to come... Keep up what ever you are doing..It is working that is great.. Phiber, Some people have a much easier time quitting than others do. Be grateful for your easy quit and use that ease and comfort to help others along the way! That's what we're all here to do! I think you're being smart by keeping your guard up and not getting too complacent with your quit. Congrats on an awesome 12 days! Crave the Quit! Be careful! This quit has been relatively easy for me as well. However, out of the blue last week I had a crave that knocked my socks off! Felt like a demon had hold of me. Thank goodness an exorcism was performed immediately (Cobenfan knocked the demon out of me). Not trying to scare you. Just be prepared for it if it ever happens. I literally broke into a sweat and had the shakes for a few minutes. It did pass and smooth sailing again... I have had a kick arse attitude from the beginning of my quit and it has made the journey much easier than society had me thinking it was going to be. I love being a non smoker. I wish I had quit before I did. Thank goodness I finally pulled my head out of the sand! Enjoy & Congrats Phiber Optik!
