Thank you very much for replying Trish. I agree with you "if it ain't broke don't fix it". I gained about 40 pounds with the Paxil perhaps that is why the Doctor is concerned, I do not know. I am about ready just to give up on the antidepressants and just take the klonopin '"as needed". The shortness of breath has subsided just about, I just feel kinda of "spacey" and depressed, maybe that is the withdrawel from the Paxil. I have decided to give it a few more days, to make it one week, if I do not feel better I WILL go off lexapro and look for other options for medical care. I will let you know how I am doing. I DO hope the lexapro can work and the side effects disminish, I may take the Paxil for a week of two, Doc says it is alright, as I believe you suggested, too, in an earlier post. Again thank you for your very kind words and advice. It helped. Thank you, Debi.

Debi, I strongly urge you to find another doctor. One who would be able to tell you about side effects, reassurance, what to expect taking new medicines, etc. You had mentioned in a previous post the doctor took you off Paxil, which was working for you, except for some weight gain. Was the weight gain causing your cholestrol to rise, or anything else, that they felt was absolutely necessary to stop the medicine?. Just curious as the ol' saying goes... If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Trish

I just started taking Lexapro, after months of Paxil C.R. which was great. Lexapro is not agreeing with me after just a few days. I am having severe shortness of breath, headache, insomnia and I have been crying non-stop! I called Doctor, and she said to just keep taking it, that I am not taking enough yet. I find that hard to believe, if I increase the dosage, The shortness of breath will become worse, I can take the other side effects, but that one scares me to death! I want SO badly to go back of Paxil, but The Doctor refuses! I am afraid to continue because I may stop breathing. Has anyone else gone through this on LEXAPRO these side effects I just mentioned?? I can barely catch my breath. Any information would be apreciated, I also take low dose of Klonopin, but I am even afraid to take that with the breathing problems. Doctor is VERY unconcerned. Is this a normal side effect?? I will be looking forward to any replies. Thank you so very much. DEBI
