Quit Date - 12/26/06

Hi Everyone - Nice to meet all of you. I've been smoking for over 30 years and like most of you, tried everything to quit. I've been battling high blood pressure, high cholesterol and recently had a pretty bad bout with pneumonia out of nowhere. My doctor told me about Chantix which has just been approved by the FDA for smoking cessation. It finally hit me when my MD told me 'quit or die'... I set my quit date and have already began taking the medication. I'm not sure what I feel like after taking the meds for three days now (you start the meds 7 days before your quit date), but it's starting to make my cigs taste real bad. I'll keep you all posted. Happy holidays and wish me luck! 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

2tone, So glad you found the SSC!!! This is a great place for support and information. I also have had bad bouts with pneumonia in the past and bronchitis and the 362 day cough. The cough is now completely gone after just 6 weeks...and no bronchitis or pneumonia yet this season....so the benefits of quitting are so worth hell and heck week. Post often and read as much as you can. I look forward to hearing more from you as your quit date approaches! I'm a Chantix quitter myself! You will find yourself smoking less as the medication makes the experience less enjoyable. Glad to have you join us! More and more are using Chantix and it will be interesting to see how we fare....
