Great American Smoke-Out

18 years ago 0 983 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
You will get alot of responses to those questions. Biggest Motivation: My health, I'm tired of getting bronchitis and have it last two months....I'm tired of getting pneumonia every year. I'm tired of going up one flight of stairs and being out of breath, and I'm tired of the chest pain and the smoker's cough. I don't want to become a lung cancer statistic. Method: I'm using the patch. Most helpful tips: Have a plan. If you need an NRT or a medication, get it prior to your quit date. Know what your trigger's are, come up with creative ways to deal with stress and deal with cravings. Reward yourself often. Write out your reasons for quitting and carry them with you to remind yourself of why you don't smoke. Make sure you have someone to talk to when you feel overwhelmed who will support you through this process. And forever protect your quit! This is a great idea. Josie, do we have an equivalent to this here in Canada? Just wondering.
What are your motivations for quitting?
LIFE!
How do you keep quit?
Easily. Concentrate on living and loving life. That will set you in the opposite direction of smoking.
What has helped you the most?
Dissecting the lies of smoking and addiction. Seeing the truth.
What was your toughest time?
Learning new mental coping skills for the feeling of frustration/anger.
What can we do to help?
Continue helping this world to become smoke free, one smoker at a time. Jan, To my knowledge we do not have a "Great Canadian Smoke Out", however most communities hold events throughout the year launching campaigns and contests for quitting. Members, Just a quick reminder that we our boards are to remained focused on smoking cessation and that the IM is available to you for other exchanges of information such as how to post pictures. Thank you for your cooperation. :) Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team
