Good luck and welcome. what coping mechanisms are you going to use in addition to this site and the support group (both good starts)? Get your meter up. I find it a motivation. Let us know how you are doing. Day 2. Still going strong. Did I mention that my hubbie is giving up also? So that's day 2 for both of us. He is on NRT chewing gum but I still want to keep to nothing. Allan Carr's book is my bible. At the cessation group last night, most of us had a tale to tell. I'm not so sure that I find it helpful. The group folds in another 4 weeks so I will see it through.Isn't this addiction the pits? Love to all :confuse:

It's mid afternoon here and I am ok. Had a few scary moments but on the whole its not so bad. Concentration is starting to get a bit iffy and the pangs are getting stronger. I am happy to be a non smoker, these pangs are the dying screams of my nicotine bug. I can visualise the creepy crawlie writhing in agony. Each time I get though a craving, the bug gets smaller.

Hello again. I didn't make it the last time. Can't even remember when that was. This time I really want to do it.I have joined a smoking cessation group and tomorrow is QUIT day! Third meeting tomorrow night and they will measure my carbon monoxide levels. No cheating. I am terrified, exited, don't want to fail. I know that withdrawal is mostly in your mind and need to focus on that. I am going cold turkey because I want to get rid of the nicotine quickly. Wish me luck....I'll need it!

Way to go Susie! A couple of days ago I was suffering from the evils of voices in my head... don't listen to them! They are trying to convince you that you are going to be depriving yourself of something. You are NOT depriving yourself. It feels so good to let the lil' crave just scoot on by without a backward glance. Give it a try! Keep posting!
