Cheermom - just want to say congratulations and enjoy the spa....you soooooooooo much deserve it. Sorry that you have to spend the holidays with a bunch of stinky people...but aren't you glad that you don't smell. Gee....imagine how good you will smell when you get back from that spa!! Wish I had helpful advice....but the harder someone tried to pull those cigarettes out of my hand, the harder I clung onto them. It seems we all have to be "ready" before we can quit. Beat him Kim!! I know I would. I pitch a fit when my husband chews around me. I think it is gross and I refuse to kiss him. If i smell smoke on him, I start complaining about how he is being insensitive to my needs and wants. I remind him this is about me and not him--until he goes thru what I have for the last 9 weeks, then it will be about him--until then, it's about me! There are ways to get what you want.... Tell everyone you have joined the SSC Union and you are currently on strike until your working environment improves! No cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, etc...until you are insured a smoke-free environment to work in...then stick to it!!! ;) If all else fails, Phil has his 'enforcement' unit you can employ... :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,873 Amount Saved: $616 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 23 Mins: 16 Seconds: 43

Well, haven't been on as I already finished 1 day of vacation and have 4 more. I am so glad I have a reward in place starting Friday at 3pm and it goes till Sunday midday too. I am close to my 6 months and I figured I would go to the spa and soak in the hot springs, mud bath, and then get a massage. I so deserve it as rewards mean alot to me. Every time I would've bought a pack, I put it away and save it for my rewards. What a system because its working for me. Now, it didn't snow like I was hoping so now I'm stuck in the delema of having to smell cigs on every adult in my household (my entire family smokes except me) and I'm not happy about it. Everyone says I should "get over it" and "accept it". I am accepting the fact they are killing themselves. NO one smokes in my house ever because my youngest would be in the hospital if they do. But when they all go outside, then come in, it comes with them. I will burn candles but last night one person, my husband, went outside and came back in and a candle could not hide that smell. I've got a sour mood looming over me because in about 6 hours everyone starts coming over and I know I wont smoke, but my attitude sucks when I am the one who has to accept it. HUgs and Happy Thanksgiving Kim :gasp: My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 169 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,234 Amount Saved: $684.45 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 22 Mins: 15 Seconds: 15

Thanks for the support. I shouldn't let this ruin my quit or my holiday. Thanks for reminding me that I can't control anyone just like no one can control me. I was upset and told my husband he already smoked his money for the week away. Not my problem. I told him that I am entitled to my "mad" money and can save it for rewards if I want too instead of smoking it away. You all, we once were smokers and would fight for a pack. I gave him some so I would have a peaceful Thanksgiving with my entire family here. I also made it clear that if he did it again he will be spending the holidays elsewhere. As for hanging around non-smokers today, I can do that. I will hang out with the little ones as those are the only ones that do not smoke. Every single adult coming smokes EXCEPT ME !!!! That is something I'm proud of and that the nicodemon does not control me today as for the past 169 days!! Hugs and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I'm really late but glad to see you are doing so well. You are in control just as you have been from the beginning. You are reaping the benefits of your quit. No one can take that away from you unless you allow them to. Quitting around other smokers is hard and it is hard learning to deal with them continuing to smoke but that doesn't mean you can't do it. Keep going. Rusty and Josie are right, Kim. All you can control is your own attitude and your money jar. I think addict hubby should draw back a bloody stump if he reaches for your quit money to by smokes with. Let him get his own money. Maybe he can hold up a liquor store or beg on the streets like the other addicts. Sorry, but this POs me as much as it does you. Focus on the spa, my friend. You have to survive just this one day. You can do that much, I know you can. Stay strong. Kim, I hope I don't sound like the folks who say "get over it", but...there's nothing you can do about other people smoking. It's totally up to them. All you can do is work on yourself. All you have control over is your own reaction. Don't ruin your own holiday being resentful at others. It won't change them. Believe me...I've ruined several holidays. Just for today...let go and let God be God. I hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful!
