12 hours smoke-free

Faith, Love your excuse for whining. I can just see myself doing something stupid and smiling politely and telling people I just quit smoking. I'm a little afraid when school starts, I'll make an a$$ of myself. I hope I have my brain back by next week! While at WalMart today, I bought a new crockpot. Took it out of the box, and the lid was on top, which I didn't see before it was too late. Lid shattered all over my tile floor. Do you think they will take it back if I tell them I just stopped smoking and am a little clumsy? LOL I'm happy to have more of my usual sense of humor back today! YIPPEE! Keep up the good work, Misty!! Congrats on 12 hours!

Hi Misty, I quit yesterday, and I think Day 2 has been easier for the most part. I'm not so antsy, and don't feel so much like I'm missing out on "something". Good luck to you and keep us posted! I'll be pulling for you!

hello! I am on my way, think if I change my routine it will be easier. We are such creatures of habit. I got past the first crave for a cig at the start of the day. The only thing I noticed is; it is taking me longer to feel like I am awake and I feel tired. The cravings last for about 5 min. Going to check my glove box for my info.I can do this! I just got up from a nap, cause I have to work graveyard shift tonight, I forgot I quit and I was looking for my cigs. What a bloomin idiot, took some deeeep breaths, cried and now I am laughing at myself. Normally I usually have the winter blues about now anyway,so feeling down is o.k. It will pass I am hungry, so gonna get something to eat Thanks for your advice. Misty, It will get easier beleive me! The first three are the worst, then it keeps getting easier! I am at 36 days and it seems like I just quit the other day, but I have gone for days at a time now with no craving. When I do get them, they are so much easier. JUST MAKE IT THROUGH THESE DAYS! One minute at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time..... Hee hee, Interesting! Yes, I think you should definitely go back to the store and explain the unique circumstances. Let me know how that goes. Then, when you try my technique ("I've quit smoking and I'm just not myself yet") and non-smokers just roll their eyes at you, smile knowingly and say, "Non-smokers can't possibly understand". That usually shuts them up. Good luck when school starts again -- you'll be fine. Tell the students you've quit smoking -- many will understand or even be envious. Keep the faith. Misty: You're on your way -- hurray and good for you! I still sometimes have that tired, "spaced-out" feeling. It goes with the territory. You can milk it, though. It's a great excuse at home or work -- "...but you know, I've quit smoking, so I'm just not myself yet." (whine, whine, whine) I'm not sure how long you can realistically expect to get away with it, but it works like a charm. Remember that non-smokers (never smoked, I should say) don't go through all this pain of quitting, because they were smarter than us and never started. So, every time we smoked, it was just to feel like a non-smoker always does. Pretty backwards, huh? So for every craving or smoking thought, let it be a reminder of the ADDICTION. Each craving is one less you will ever have and each one you conquer gets you that much closer to kicking this addiction to the curb. You CAN do this! We'll help. Keep the faith. HI Misty, also realize that you are going to go through some withdrawals which will make you feel tired. And you will probably not sleep well for the first few weeks. But that goes away. Really. And after awhile you actually get more sleep. At the top of each page is a "search messages" so put in sleep and you'll see lots of threads about that. Or any other topic you can think up. You so deserve the freedom! Congratulations! Misty, Congratulations on your first 12 hours! Some members find they are tired during the first days of their quit. This is temporary and it passes. Your body is riding itself of toxins and repairing the damage smoking has caused. Hang in there, it only gets better from here! Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team
