SammiJoFL, You should see some of our diehard smokers here in Canada. We pull them out of snowbanks all the time. We worry about freezing rain most, cause it's harder to chip them out of the ice. Congratulations on 24 Days!!!!!! You're doing awesome. :) Pat Quitting or try dying My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

I am on a work-related trip to Washington D.C. and it started snowing this afternoon - THAT's how cold it is here. Keep in mind that I am from FLORIDA. I am not used to this kind of cold! AAAAAaaaaanyway... I'm rooming with my smoker/friend/co-worker and when we got here, *surprise!* we found out that the whole hotel is now non-smoking (DC finally passed their clean air act on January 1st!) so if she wants to smoke, she has to go outside. Outside. Out. As in: OUT in the freezing cold! And she goes! Amazingly, she is not alone. There is quite a large group of smokers at this event and they ALL go outside during every break. Just a few weeks ago, I would've been among the nuts myself. Whew! I'm so glad I quit when I did! BRRRRRRR!!!

I hear you SammiJo. I live outside Toronto and right now its sooo cold the kids didn't go outside at school today. And if I were still a smoker, it might take me 10 minutes to dress for the weather, but I'd be out there, guaranteed! I was out there in all types of weather. Yeah, I was NUTS too! Sammi, Aren't you glad you are no longer a slave to your addiction like they are? Isn't it funny the realizations you come to after you quit and the cloud of smoke is gone? Thanks for checking in and sharing your observations with us. Congrats on 24 days! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Oh yea, Us addicts could smoke through any situation or obstacle. I smoked when I was sick, through sore throats, severe cold/coughing; I smoked. I tried not to smoke in my house, but if it was tooo cold, I would break my own rules and smell up the house. I would walk for a mile in an airport so I could smoke one last cig before boarding a plane. I was late for meetings so I could have a few more puffs. It truly was insanity. smoke free --- yipee! Let's never go back to that craziness.
