Sleep issues?

18 years ago 0 79 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have been waking up about 3:00-3:30 each morning since I quit smoking. I lay there and go in and out of sleep, until 6:45 when it is time to get up. It it wierd, I seem to be getting enough sleep each night, and it is not iritating me when I wake up and don't sleep all the way through the night anymore. Has anyone else had a simular problem and how long does this kind of thing last? Thanks J My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 310 Amount Saved: $50 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 37

I went through a period where I was wide awake at 5:00 a.m. and ready for the day....in retrospect, I loved this. Normally, I'm beating on the alarm shutting it off 15 times before I lazily roll out of bed. I don't seem to be doing it as much anymore though. disturbed sleep in early morning hours. dreams. for about 4 days now. no patch at night. (darn, forgot my patch again today!!!) I just realized as I am writing. I'm not responsible enough to wear a patch. add "easily distracted" to that list. no medication either. I need to just get up at 3 or 4 am and be productive. I used to wake up at exactly the same time! Arouond 3 a.m. I thought it was the Wellbutrin. Are you taking any meds? I sleep much better now, I must admit I still have some restless nights. Jbr13, As you can see, you're not alone! Sleeping disturbances are quite common among quitters. Tips to help you through: * Go to bed and rise at the same time every day * Increase your level of physical activity * Stay away from cola and coffee past lunch * Have a routine before bed to help cue your brain it is time to sleep. Include a relaxing activity. Try to stay away from television as this can interrupt your brain's ability to start winding down for bedtime. Also try to dim the lights. Hope this helps. Sweet dreams! Oh yes I remember the sleepless nights! They do lessen eventually. From my experience, it lasted aobut a month for me. But everyone's quit is different. May only last a few days for you or a week. My job thank goodness, wasn't affect by the lack of sleep. Hope things get better for you!! SLEEP!!!! WHAT'S THAT. Know what you mean. You're asleep, but you're mind isn't. I'm having terrible night sweats too. I remember this from the last time I quit. Takes about a month. There is over the counter sleep aids available, but I'm finding they are not effective, even in this situation. This too shall pass.
