The thing with hiding behind the smoke is....... at some point the smoke will clear! you have what it takes, you did the 66 days, so you know you can do it! I believe in you Monica and I know that you will conquer that nasty demon! He will not get you this time! I am sure I can get ahold of Newpapa and we will both put on our combat boots for a good swift kick! And trust me, it smarts, he got me last night! you go girl, you are a winner!!!!!!!! First off, thank you to everyone who responded to my last couple of threads. I was in a major funk and with time, your words of straight forwardness, compassion and support, lot of writing in my journal, tons of crying and putting new tools in place I'm back into a new quit. However I will not forget those 66 days quit. I'm proud of those days because I worked hard to get them but I realized I needed some extra tools in order to get through more glitches in my life. So many have said that there is no good time to quit and that is SO true. There's always going to be something 'out there' to hit you square between the eyes and BAM you don't know if you're coming or going. So I'm back on board and with my new tools in place, a phone # of a 'help line' (member), you know who you are..lol.. I'm going in with a fresh mind and a fresh start. I am not going to think of my previous quit, nor will I beat myself up over the lost days. It just isn't worth it. I have to concentrate on this moment right now and carry on to protect my quit.. I have again, learned alot about me with that slip and now I begin my new journey :) Love and hugs to you all... Thank you Katy... Yes, very true. Hiding behind the smoke.. That's one of things that I've learned with that slip. I was, in some strange way, hiding certain feelings, thoughts and without dealing with them with either crying, ranting, venting etc. led me to my slip. Well it one reason why I'd slipped. I'm heading over to a few grieving sites now.. and I'm also setting up a new schedule to lighten my load here at home. Have a super day... Hugs, Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 27 Amount Saved: $9 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 36 Seconds: 56

Marie, I looked for your post and didn't find it.. I'm hangin' in. I just posted , a rather lengthy one that 2stubborn just started here in relapse and slipping. I kinda rambled on..but hey, that's what the boards are for. Sure hope you are doing ok. I know how hard it is, but I learned so much from my major slip about 'Monica'. Take a quick peek at what I tried to say.. Am unsure if any of it made sense. (((((((hugs)))))))) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 31 Amount Saved: $9 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 11 Seconds: 40

Monica, It sounds like you've really done some soul searching and learning after this slip. We are proud of you for getting right back to your quit! Congrats on day 1! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Monica, I echo what Katy said. Don't be afraid to check into some counseling. You may find just letting it all out face to face with someone can be a tremendous relief as well. You are a courageous, strong person and I'm so glad to see you didn't walk away. Deep breaths, use your tools and keep putting one foot in front of the other. I think you are amazing. You are going to make it through this and your life will be so much better for it. Monica.....most of us hide some things behind the smoke screen....and some of us hide a LOT of things back there. Don't be afraid to let those things come to the surface....you are going to have to deal with them in some other way than lighting up. It's ok to be confused and struggling.....it's ok to rant and cry....just don't light up. I promise you that it WILL finally heal and the bad days will pass....and you will no longer be "hiding"....you will have "dealt" and come out the winner hugs girlie Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1828 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73,132 Amount Saved: $10419.6 Life Gained: Days: 241 Hrs: 2 Mins: 54 Seconds: 25
