Attitude Kick

18 years ago 0 591 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Rainie.. This is an excellent thought: as a motivator into the blah days. I think I will write my sign on a 3x5 Index card and post in on the bathroom wall across from the throne "Today...I choose my own Attitude" I think I might even make me a list of attitudes to carry around, and I didn't write this to be funny or sarcastic...I'm serious! auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,773 Amount Saved: $261.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 15 Mins: 11 Seconds: 15

Right on, Rainie! That had been the light bulb for me in finally understanding that it really is all about CHOICE. All those years it never felt like I was choosing to smoke, but I was. And now I'm CHOOSING to not smoke. It does make a big difference in how you can view craves or thoughts about smoking. Good for you, girl! Keep the faith, shipmate! 31 days -- look at you!! Attitude is everything in all facets of our lives. If you go into the day with a bad attitude then everything you touch turns to stone. Nothing will go your way, nothing positive will come to you.. It all depends on how you handle each and every situation or circumstance. Life is filled with many hardships, but it's how we deal and cope with everything which will lead us to a much more positive path. Many people look at their quits as a downer or a hardship - and yes, at times, during those horrible craves it is hell - HOWEVER if we can embrace and celebrate that we stopped smoking as a POSITIVE then we will surely always be able to beat down the nicodemon with more resolve and show IT that WE have THE POWER all due to our attitude ! I am on an attitude kick these past few days. I am now at 31 days and I want to share with all of you what I have learned. I don't want to sound like a preacher but I want to yell so loud that maybe atleast ONE person hears me. Stopping smoking has brought me to a whole new level of "thinking". When this quit first started I would complain about the thoughts banging around in my head and how difficult they were making everything. One day someone said to me, on a totally different subject, that much of life is about choice and that a person is able to "choose" their own attitude. I started to practice this. I cannot stress or yell loudly enough that this concept really works! I realised that when I wake up in the morning it is my choice to have a good attitude and I can actually tell myself to do just this. It brings me such a sense of peace to make not smoking "my choice". It takes away that sense that I am denying myself of something I want. Please take a moment to wrap your mind around this and give it a try. Look at my beautiful 31 days! I shared this on the ship too...
OMG... you can't tell me that things don't happen for a reason! This is the email my Momma sent me today:
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, Looked in the mirror, And noticed she had only three hairs on her head. Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?" So she did and She Had A Wonderful Day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror And saw that she had only two hairs on her head. "H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?" So she did And She Had A Grand Day. The next day she woke up,Looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. "Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did And She Had A Fun,Fun Day. The next day she woke up, Looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head. "YEA!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!" Attitude is everything. Raine, There were and still are so many times I had to put my attitude in check. Our perspectives are extremely important in the quit process. You 31 days are Absolutely Amazing and you have every right to be proud! Quitting was a soul searching, life changing experience for me. I am so different today than I was as a smoker. The changes are beyond anything that I've ever known and the journey isn't over by a long shot! You have begun an adventure that is going to lead you to places you never even imagined. Keep traveling that road less traveled. It is amazing. One step at a time, one day at a time. Rainie....congratulations on discovering the "heart" of the positive quitter. It isn't always easy to think this way, but the more you work at it the better you get....it DOES work. my mamma always said "happiness is a state of mind" and I whole heartedly agree with that.
