One week and counting...

Hey, wow, people posted overnight! =D imallclear, thanks for the welcome. Yes, each quit has been a little different for me, too. My first one was totally cold-turkey, no NRT at all (I seem to remember I gobbled many many M&M's in those first few weeks!). Phil, thanks for posting. I just love the support here! :) Jan58, I probably sound positive because I AM! =D Four years ago I quit for six months - ack, SIX months! - it still pains me to think about how silly I was to start back up again! I know I can do this because I've done it before, only THIS time I'm not gonna be so silly again. I am using the patch, btw. Cobenfan, wow, thanks for the welcome and for the encouraging words! All those things you described - I am SO there! I do not want to be a smoker anymore. I do not want to live my entire life around my addiction ever again. Oh, and I don't think I mentioned this yet - my husband quit at the same time I did four years ago, and he also quit with me this time too. Also, a co-worker joined me on Thursday and quit also. It is so helpful to have my best friends with me on this!

Seven days, twenty-one hours, and... forty-one minutes. Thats a almost one hundred and ninety hours. Eleven thousand, three hundred and eighty-one seconds. Not that I'm counting or anything. :) Hi y'all! I just found this site tonight and what a cool thing! This is my third quit attempt, the first was for six months in 1984, the second was for six months in 2002. 2006 was my THIRTIETH YEAR of smoking! And... my LAST. This is it, I'm not doing this withdrawal thing EVER again, because I'm not ever going to suck oxygen through a cylindrical tube of paper filled with tobacco ever again. EVER. It's nice to find others who are traveling the same road. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 236 Amount Saved: $21 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 31 Seconds: 17

Hey FFM, LOL, no, I'm not an accountant. I need to hire one, though... I don't suppose you live in Florida? :) It does help, somehow, though, to watch the hours stack up since the last puff. The more distance I can put between me and that moment, the easier this trip will be. I see you're on Day #5... good luck to you too! I think I read a post of yours which was about the "spaced-out" side-effect-thing? Geez, am I ever going through that!! Thank goodness it eventually goes away!! Are you an accountant ;) I am. Well done! I love your introduction. Good luck and keep up the good work. I was glad this site had a tool to keep track because I would have to carry my calculator everywhere ;) Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 178 Amount Saved: $37.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 14 Seconds: 17

I'm going you're way, hop in and welcome aboard. Seven days already, how the time flies. You've got some quits under your belt so you've got some idea what you're in for. I find that for me, each quit is different as I'm in different stages of my life. One thing they all share is that It's a physical thing that my mind can tackle, if I beef it up enough. that's what i'm thinking today. glad you're here. pass a good night and tomorrow we'll both have another day under our belt. Sammi, 7 days in and you seem pretty positive. Good for you. Are you doing this cold turkey or are you using any NRT's? Glad to have you aboard. SammiJo - Welcome! Okay, you have made it through the first week and have two substantial quits in the past. This is THE one. SO Glad for you. Don't worry about what you will "do". You will not smoke, because you're going to be busy starting your new life. This will allow plenty of time for reading, writing in your quit journal, relaxing, getting the clutter out of the house, doing puzzles, pilates, treadmill, napping and working without a ton of breaks. Wait, it gets better, you get to enjoy the company of family and friends without running out for a smoke, or wishing they would hurry up and finish talking so you can step out. Your kids won't think you're stinky and life will be great!!!! Pull up a big comfy chair and do some reading, you will learn a lot and probably get some more kewl ideas..... Let me know if I can help out in any way !
