Hi barbara - Great post... AND it is an awesome journey of getting to know yourself on such an intimate level... Getting to know what you need, want and learning how to be loving and kind to self... I love this journey... And at the times you may have a tendency to get "pissed" at yourself, gentle down the energy and get out that compassoin you have for everyone else...and treat YOU like your best friend... I have learned to love myself through this journey... Have fun... it really is all abour YOU :) Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 235 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,247 Amount Saved: $1092.75 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 13 Mins: 28 Seconds: 15

IT IS SOOOOOOOO DIFFICULT TO QUIT....It is so easy to kid ourselves into thinking it will just be okay if I have just 2 cigs a day, one in the morning and one at night, it is not. I have been fighting with that more than anything else. Just 2 a day, what is so wrong with that, I am an adult, I can make that decision, so what !! Nobody has to know, I'll just smoke when I am alone, just 2 a day..........We cannot do it. There are not a lot of things that are just black and white in this world.........either you smoke or you don't, period. The lenghts that we go to rationalize ourselves has been quite astounding to me, I really have surprised myself on how creative I can/could be just to have 1 cigarette, I could fill a book with excuses. It is such an interesting process to go through to realize that stopping smoking is such a huge deal to us but in reality, even though our friends and family support us, they move on quickly. They ask us for so long to try and stop, and you can do it, and rah rah rah......but in the end it is just yourself. Doing it just for yourself. This is all about yourself. Yeah it is greatthat we will probably be around longer, enjoy our lives with our loved ones longer, feel better, smell better, but don't wait for the accolades from everyone - they go away. It is all about doing it for you..yourself..I. If you think about it any other way, I do not think you will succeed. So be prepared to expose yourself to yourself. Some of it is not pretty and is hard to accept and you will get pissed at yourself and it probably will take you a while to get the hang of it. Keep trying. Do it for yourself. Thanks for your replies everyone, and as always, everyones support. I am very appreciative of the friends we have here at this site. I do not post that often but I do indeed check in and read almost every day. Better living through our on-line addiction. My philosophy is "whatever works".
