Effexor isn€™t an ssri.

It is exactly the same as the regular Xanax, just that it is time released so you don't need to take a pill every few hours - you get 24 hour coverage from one pill - they come in different doses - my Dr. started me at the same dose I was taking as a total in a day with the regular Xanax. It got me off the up and down feeling I was getting with the regular Xanax and makes me more even keel. I can still take the regular ones in between if I have a panic attack, but I've only had to do that once. Check into it - it might be a great aid in getting you through the first few rough weeks of going on an anti-depressent. Let me know how you are doing!

KELLY, I AM CURRENTLY TAKING XANAX 1MG. BUT I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT XANAX XR IS, IS IT ANYTHING LIKE THE REGULAR XANAX? THE XANAX 1MG JUST MAKES ME HIGH, IT DOES NOT HELP REALLY WITH THE CHEST PAINS AND ANXIOUS FEELING!

I too have had problems with SSRI's, but I am currently taking Lexapro as well as Xanax XR - extended release - which is a god send. None of the ups and downs of the regular Xanax and gets you through the night too. I tried Klonipin XR before they came out with the Xanax XR (it is very new) but I had really weird effects from the Klonopin - keep up the antidepressents - I am into my 6th week and I feel like a new person - with the Xanax too! Take care and email me at cristtom@earthlink.net anytime if I can help!

Today is my second day on Effexor XR 37.5mg. Yesterday went ok. I took it in the morning with food. During the day, I had some nausea, some sleepiness, and then at night one big panic attack that lasted for like 40min. I was mostly shaking and crying. SCAREY! This is the main reason why I never follow through with anti-depressants, cause they give my anxiety and panic attacks. I live alone, plus I am scared to death of taking meds, so this is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I didn't sleep well at all. I was up every hour. I am taking Xanax .25 like 4 times a day. But the .25 won't get me through the night. I wonder if I should ask my pyschiatrist about a sleep aid? Or if that's a side effect of the med that might get better? I'll see tonight when or if I fall asleep, how fast I wake back up.. Anyone have any suggestions?
