I think I have learned a valuable lesson

Jan, I can't tell you how many things I haven't felt like doing since I quit. And, how often I said to myself "if I only had a cigarette I'd be able to get this stuff done." But, you know what? Nothing catastrophic happened because I didn't do the laundy, picked up the house or got the trash out to the road, to mention just a few. Sometimes I told myself *not* doing the stuff I just wasn't up to dealing with was that day's reward... in other words, I cut myself some slack instead of adding to my stress in order to hang on to my quit. Dunno if that might help you or not, but know that many of us have been right where you are, but made it through. You CAN do this if you just make up your mind *you're* going to gonna prevail -- no matter what. In the meantime, don't hesitate to come here to read, vent, rant and share. We're all in this together. Great post, Duffis! Jan: I know exactly how you feel right now. Been there a couple of times myself. Recognize that you slipped and get on with it. The world won't end tomorrow because of it. We're still here for you! Take your shower, brush your teeth, make some hot tea, DON'T SMOKE! WHEW---you smell like an ashtray! Hurry up with that shower! ;)

You have been on my mind ever since I logged off earlier, Jan. You DID throw the rest of your 'small pack' out-right? I know when I began cheating in earlier quits I would put them aside, just in case...I'm being silly... of course you did! :confuse: Right?

Good morning, Jan! It's a brand new day and we are going to make the best of it! In a few minutes I am going to church with my family and then we are coming home to eat left-overs (big dinner yesterday since my daughter is visiting-potato soup, califlower salad, grilled chicken, big pot of pinto beans, dirty rice, garlic cheese rolls and strawberry cake :)) Then send her off on her way. I'm going to say a little prayer for you (and me too, I'm having a hard time the last few days) and then tonight you and I will be on here to report a beautiful smoke-free day! Jan, Take this experience and learn from it. Truth is your quit will affect a lot of aspects of your life. Things will be different, that's what happens when we change. Know that you are changing for the better and your life will be better because of your quit. It will take some effort, some time but you can do it! Keep your focus on getting through one day at a time. Keep going, we're cheering you on! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
