Hi Nalu Thank you so much for you kind words. I'm sitting in my office in Belfast and it warms me to my core that you are sitting so far away and thinking of me and taking the time to reach out. Thanks to you and to everyone who has really made these last few days a lot smoother than they might have been. Cheers guys and all the best Sharon My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 42 Amount Saved: 10.76 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 31 Seconds: 0

Day 3 has been okay so far. Found myself feeling a little exasperated at times and I admit I did think that it would just be easier to give up giving up and have a cigarette. I really struggle with my identity as a non smoker - is that really me - can it really be me... Anyway I will complete day 3 and will get to day 4 and recommit. I can do it and I am doing it. Just like all of us are. C'mon guys lets just keep kickin' ass and get on with this. Speak again soon. All the best Sharon :quest:

Thanks for such a quick response and yes Phil, you are right it's determination rather than luck that's needed. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes it is scary that I started after 17 weeks - why - well I thought that my nicotine gremlin was well and truly buried but he reared his head on while I was on holiday. I was convinced that I had quit forever and that I was in control so thought I'd have one. I KNOW THIS IS SENSELESS - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS JUST 1. But rather than beat myself up over it I can take heed of the lesson that ever vigilant is the key. Thanks JAN58 Too - nice to have your company. Hi Guys, I'm on day 2. Gave up over a year ago with the ambition of making it to a whole year of being smoke free. I did 17 weeks and if I had perservered I would have been past my year target. However, I know I can do this - when i was smoke free for 17 weeks last year I found it a pleasure. So I've decided to stop again. This time it's forever because I've learned from my past experiences what to watch out for. Wish me luck. Great to have somewhere to come and talk. Thanks guys. Thanks Penitent. I will stay close, I promise. And I like rollercoasters a lot too. I'm trying to remember what I'm gaining rather than what I'm giving up. By never taking another cigarette I GAIN freedom from a slavery I GAIN my health I GAIN a sense of control in myself I GAIN savings to the tune of 2.69 per day Thats 981.85 per year. Thats a holiday in Greece, a flight to USA to see my brother!!! I could do a lot with that money. I GAIN a sense of belief in myself. Cheers folks
