Now Combining this Forum w/a Live Group

This forum has been good to me. Has helped me to stay smoke-free for 35 days. However, I decided I would also benefit from some live support through one of the hospitals here in San Francisco. For one thing, I needed to know how much of what I am experiencing is due to quitting smoking and how much of it is due to having bipolar disorder. Truthfully, I haven't been so sure that the withdrawals I went through were not exacerbated by having bipolar disorder, and the psychiatrists do not have a clue as to how quitting smoking affects the dopamine recepters... Only other bipolars really know, and I'm now in a group with some others. I think that both programs will be helpful in different ways. And that I need both. I needed to have my questions about how quitting smoking and having bipolar disorder interacts, but posting the question is a no no on this board. Ladybugg, Can't say that I'm happy that you have clinical depression, but I can say that I am proud of your quit. It's an inspiration. Until you posted your initial post i didnt really know much about being Bipolar, i did however at the time searched the web and found out a few things about it and now have a better understanding of the disorder. I think it would be extremely helpful and interesting helping those who have this disorder better understand and recognize what it happening and therefore avoid relapse or mistaking the bipolar for what may be a part of the natural progression of the quit. I think you have a very valid point. I would say the need for such research wouldnt be high on their agenda unfortunately (not that i would know tho lol) I hope it all goes well for you at the live support group. What a wonderful tool to have available to you! :) (I have clinical depression and it's been very difficult to distinguish symptoms at times!) I'm glad you're staying here too!!
