I just wanted to say a huge thank you to this site, and all of the lovely members who really have made a difference. Esp in my early days, you helped me to stay quit. Thank you. I have learnt so much from this site. I know i am still at early days and to never take my quit for granted. I would not have known that without this site. You have given me a gift - and for that i am truly grateful. Even better than that. I work with homeless people, including under 18s - and so far, 2 people have quit as well. Also, my daughter is now at day 5 today. I still do not know whether she will make it this time, but i believe in her. Thanks to this site,. I learnt HOW to support her best. Not to judge - not to give advice, but simply to understand. When she said the other day (end of day 3) I cant cope I am too stressed to do it right now - I cant think straight, i feel more normal when I smoke. I cant remember anything. I could say - thats ok, its because your brain was full up with carbon monoxide, now oxygen is getting to your brain for the first time in years. I told her to take one day at a time. Always say, not today but i can smoke tomorrow if i want to. She is 17 year old and smoked from age 14 (although not in front of me, or with my consent). (hence my first quit 3 years ago - when i found out that she was smoking).... Thanks to this site. I can really be an example. I can really help. I have learnt so much. I will always visit this site, and always be grateful for the quality of life you have helped to provide for me - and my daughter and 2 other homeless young people.... it will go on. I am so grateful and wanted to say a huge thank you! To this site and all of the wonderful members who take the time to help. There are a lot of people i remember so well from my early days that made a difference. I would write their names, but wont for fear of leaving anyone out. I go to Cyprus this weekend. Returning 2.5 weeks time. I think this time I really have kicked it. yes I did it - but it was possible because of the support of you. Thank you! I just cant say how much I appreciate it. I suppose most people quit smoking or think about it - then find this place and stop. I was thinking about it, but no definate date to stop. When I posted here people presumed i had quit... so I did - right there and then I smoked my last one, and havent smoked another one since. It hasnt been easy, but this site (and the people here) helped to make it as easy as it could be. When I found the load too heavy - you helped share that load, and i found it easier to carry. When I saw my daughter quit. When I realised that i was teaching her a good example - I realised that i had more than just my life to be grateful for. I had never really thought of online support groups before. For a new comer reading this - it honestly does work. If you want to quit - and you come here you can do it. I cant believe i am at day 73 already. Its been quite a journey. I havent posted so much of late, because to be honest i almost forgot that i had quit smoking. I also work in support/counselling, so I often have not had the energy after work to give back to the site. But that is a good sign, it is a sign that i am healing. To people who posted in this thread... I knew you knew who you were!! :0) Thanks x My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,842 Amount Saved: 547.5 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 11 Mins: 50 Seconds: 33

Niks - have a wonderful time in Cypress. You deserve it. Congratulations on 72 days. I too feel that I owe my quit, and thus in some senses my life, to the folks on this site. Truly a special group of quitters, well moderated and formatted. I join you in expressing gratitude.
