Now that's beating down temptation - literally. Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoyed 'hearing' your story. The subject matter was scary, and tempting, but in spite of your anger, you have a great sense of humour. And what are the odds that this would happen to you, just after you quit? Some things happen for a reason. I don't think the reason was to tempt you, but to confirm and validate that you quit. Stay strong. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,310 Amount Saved: $468 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 2 Mins: 27 Seconds: 3

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

So I pull into a parking space at Sam's club tonight, get out of the car, looked down and there was an empty cigarette pack there. Normally, i would have picked it up and took it to the trash with me when i went in, but being that i just quit... i didn't wanna be touching anything to do with cigarettes. So, I took the baby in the store and we did our shopping... took a couple of hours. It was a harsh shopping trip. The baby is teething, and i suspect that he may be going through a little bit of withdrawals himself, and so he was really being challenging. The guy when I checked out was rude because the store was closing and he was in a hurry (he was young and it was Friday night). We got out of the store, I loaded up the car, and went to get in... Cigarette pack was still there right by the drivers door of my car! I looked at it long and hard for a moment, and then went to kick it away. GUESS WHAT! It was a full pack! No kidding. It's like the Universe is throwing cigarettes at me now that I quit. Guess what I did? If you've seen me post, you probably know that i'm bitter and have been really short and angry and have had a rotten attitude about quitting a 3 pack a day habit that i've had for 21 years. I supose it does no good to try and have suspense in this post because I probably wouldn't be in here talking so excitedly about this if I had smoked them. LOL . . . I stomped them. *Nods* Then I kicked them under my tire and I ran them over. I feel better. You know.... We got home late last night, and I told my husband... "You do realise that i have to post about the cigarettes at my feet at the store before I go to bed, don't ya?" LOL!! I'm glad that you all enjoyed the story, and now I really wish that i had a gun and could have shot them! LOL!! Thanks for all the kind words. It's good to know that i'm going to be OK.. it's the first time i've known since I quit. Oh Misty, that is such a great story. You know someone that was not 100% serious about quitting, would have kept them - just in case! Your story made me smile. That is an acheivement and test of commitment to your quit! Your post made me laugh and smile; smile for you and your accomplishment. You did the only sensible thing that should be done to cigarettes. Smashing them is the answer because smoking them sure isn't. Congrats to you for kickin' nicodemons butt. I love Nicodemon butt kickin' stories!
