Hi Stormy,
The first two days i think i drank 2 gallons of water and ate 4 pounds of apples lol. Come here and post, do something you wouldnt usually do direct your focus on something else. It will pass, you will get through.
Hang in there, it gets better. :)

This is the time of day that I normally go outside on my deck and have a smoke and unwind, so I am starting to feel somewhat restless and have been doing my usual pacing back and forth. (I have gotten so good at this too) I hate feeling this and I already have that spacy feeling. Oh No. It's already starting! Uggghhhh

Hi,
I'm doing ok. I walked out on the deck, stood there for a minute or so, and it was like I didn't know what to do with myself, so I just came back inside, turned on the TV, and popped yet another piece of gum in my mouth. But I'm hanging in there.

Hi Stormy.. its soooo late and i am about to go to bed. I just wanted to say this to you!
Arargh that first day huh? Habit routine.. ok what else can you do?
1. Breathing. Take control of your breathing.
2. Still go for a break - why cant you go outside on your deck still? Go out and take some deep breaths, feel your lungs feel up. I promise it will relax u, probably more than smoking would have anyway.
3. This is a trigger. What is your plan and coping mechanism for dealing with this?
4. Do you have any distractions? Do you have any mints, sugar free gum. Ah and I LOVED having my toothbrush and toothpaste in my drawer at work, I would go and clean my teeth.
Posting here is good.
You used to see going on that deck as a reward, so make sure you are still getting that reward, even if it is coming here to post.

Take a book out there with you or a hand held video game. Go out there and make non-smoking memories. Drown out the smoking ones.

Stormy,
How are you today? Did you reward yourself for getting through that first day? Have you thought of a new way to relax on your deck?
Danielle

Hang in there, it really is worth it. Find things to take your miond off smoking, read, watch TV, have a nice soak in the tub with candles burning to make is smell so nice. You will be happy you made it through this, and it feels so good. Keep reading and posting all you can, it really does help.
