I quit when I realized my 3 yr old daughter could recognize my brand of cigs, and we don't even smoke around her. I out grew addiction. It really didn't suit the person I had matured into. Plus ... Smoking is bad for you! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 132 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,975 Amount Saved: $528 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 3 Mins: 32 Seconds: 31

Hello everyone, You've all come up with some really great "why". This is a great way to validate your quit so keep them coming. Pink, Some of the posts moved do not belong in the "Introduce Yourself" forum. Moving them will warrant them the attention they deserve. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey Pink I could actually write a book on my journey that brought me to January 30th, 2006, but in a nutshell......I quit and stay quit as I never want to become a burden to my husband or my family from a smoking related illness. I hope it is not too late to play............. My initial WHY to quit, was because my hubby wanted to quit. The only way for him to quit was if I did too. He had this horrible cough for years (it is really BAD....) and will not go to the doctor. I know it is something serious, so I decided to quit with him. That was my initial WHY. I'll be honest though, I didn't think he would last. Finally at 20 days, he smoked. But I didn't. I just kept on going. My WHY now is different. I too have asthma. I was on 2 different inhalers daily, and went in once a week for a breathing treatment at the docs. I still smoked through all of this.......... But now, I am off all inhalers and pretty clear of any asthma for over 4 months now. So my WHY now is my health. My motivation to stay quit is my 2 girls. In case you didn't know....... They are my inspritation in my journey. They have to watch their Dad smoke, and cough, and stink everyday. I know what will eventually happen.......... So at least they have me as a role model to not smoke. I am hoping that since they are fairly young still, as time goes on, maybe they won't even remember that I smoked. Anyhow, thank you for this post. I really enjoy reading other peoples responses. Take care! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,985 Amount Saved: $650.73 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 1 Mins: 17 Seconds: 41
