My Negative Thoughts - Suggestions?

21 years ago 0 22 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi, i know exactly how you feel. i suffer from chest pains all the time, my doctor says it's due to tension but i can't help but wonder that it could be something more. i find that when i have bad thoughts, which is almost all the time, i listen to it and then let it fade to silence and then replace it with a positive thought. if i get an image then i picture it clearly and then let it get smaller and smaller until it has gone, then replace it with a nice image. it's hard but i keep practicing. the other thing that i do is to say affirmations aloud over the negative thoughts, i do it untill i feel more comfortable. i post them up all ove the house. the web sites on affirmation are quite helpful, i copied a few off to keep my brain busy. hope it's been helpful. becca.

wow, i know exactly how you feel. while i do have some physical illnesses i tend to turn my chronic bladder infections into kidney infections and just a few months ago i started thinking i had parkinsons. now i have a nursing background and i know i don't really have all this stuff wrong with me, but the thoughts are still there. i just keep reminding myself that i'm OK! and it's all psychological! i'm a hypochondriac, but my dr tells me i'm ok. i know i really am.

As so many on here I think I'm the "only one" and then I see someone else like me. I, too, have the problem of searching for what could be wrong with me. It's not really that I am a hypochondriac. I don't always feel ill, but I have several physical problems that continually plague me. Most are pain related and I end up looking for information on all sorts of things... MS, MD, etc. I cannot afford to go to the dr. with these beliefs... being on Medicaid doesn't offer me much more than basic care and my doc said in my last check up that I'm fine. My only advice is to look for what symptoms you DON'T have. That always makes me feel better. Then take a walk or find something positive to read about. That helps me. Take care!! Mama

I totally agree with registering for the program, that is the first thing I did. However talking to a sheriff friend of mine he told me to be careful when researching stuff on the internet that for example some people that proclaim serious side effects from certain medications might also be a speed addict or there might be something seriously wrong with them that could be causing most of there symptoms and might have nothing to do with the medication I am researching itself.

register for the panic program It's free and it can't hurt. Have you taken the panic test. Part of panic is that you make it happen yourself. It sounds like you might be doing this. If you want to change your life then this is the first step. Good Luck!

Hi all, I am suffering from health anxiety, specifically a fear of having ALS. This started just over a year ago. I have been through every test in the book and told I do not have this illness though I do have some neurological symptoms the neuro says they are not dangerous. I really need to know how to get myself out of the cycle I am in. Some of it relates to the internet. I know I need to stay off the internet in searching for information on my symptoms and hanging out on a forum with a lot of other people who also think they have a horrible neurological illness. The problem is that I start to worry a little and decide to check in.... I always, always feel worse and every worry someone else has ends up being my worry. Any suggestions on positive self thoughts I can use? This problem is destroying my life. I am taking steps... counseling, visit to psychiatrist for anti-depressant, etc. but need to start now to change my thoughts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Best Wishes, Patience :)
