Foreboding thoughts

I agree with Elizabeth that we all get foreboding thoughts on occasion. How we handle them though is what's important. Take for instance if someone is late coming home. Your mind will explore all the possibilities and then sort out which ones are realistic and probable. The "What can happen?" experience allows us to do some preventive planning, and in that sense it is useful. If you listen to your your worst thought scenarios and take then to heart, then do challenge them. Want to tell us what kinds of thoughts you mean, and how you handle them at the present? We may be able to offer some suggestions.

Hi Victora, I get foreboding dark thoughts too. They are definately related to anxiety. its good that you have identified this...in the past I often thought they were going to come true. I should say believed they were going to come true. It helps to write them down and evaluate them, but then to busy yourself with other things. The thing that helps to keep bad thoughts away for me, is to keep busy and talk to positive people. Having a laugh really helps too. Immersing yourself in something prevents you from going to deep inside yourself.

Hi Everyone! I've been having a lot of foreboding, dark thoughts. I do "do" self talk, but sometimes they come so fast and so many, that I get a bit overwhelmed. I'm wondering what works for you? What do you do? Thanks! Victoria
