Party tonight - depressed because I cant smoke...

18 years ago 0 28 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Doodlebug - PLEASE don't smoke. You have been clean for 159 days and some old party isn't worth it. When I am in a place where is use to smoke, I just tell myself, "I don't do that anymore". Get a stick and whittle a cigarette out of it. Just whatever it takes. I understand how you feel, Doodlebug! I have been attendings big parties in the last 2 weekends ... and it was really hard to cope with the urge and cravings .... Luckily, I had my NRT inhaler, and it did help me to overcome those difficult moments ... Doodlebug, Please be careful!!! Everytime I've had that thought "I'll just smoke tonight," I've done it and REALLY regretted it the next day! If you're still thinking "I'll just smoke tonight, buy a pack and throw them away at the end of the night" or "I'll buy a pack but only smoke if I'm REALLY craving" or something else similar to that when it's time to go to the party then DON'T GO!!!!! No party is worth losing your quit! Believe me! I've been there and I REALLY don't want to see you go through what I went through! The next thing is, if you do go, do NOT drink much. I'd say one or two at the absolute max! If you're thinking "I'll just smoke tonight, buy a pack and throw them away at the end of the night" now, before you're even in the situation, while you're completely sober, then how much easier will it be to convince yourself when you're drunk or have had a few to "just smoke tonight?" Far too easy, of that I can assure you!!!!!!! Please, do NOT risk your quit for some party! There will be other parties... you might not ever get up the courage to quit again if you throw this quit away. Please be careful! Crave the Quit! Doodlebug, smoking is yark, stinks, you'll be the best looking one there cause your complexion is free of smoke and also the best smelling cause you'll smell like perfume instead of smoke, you'll laugh without coughing isn't that great? You can do this for sure. You know smoking is scary, I was watching an OPrah show, there was a heart specialist there and he said to a lady: you have to stop smoking before I treat you. Might as well do it now before we need treatment.. So have a good time. Tell us about it :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 124 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,866 Amount Saved: $496 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 9 Mins: 55 Seconds: 28

Doodlebug, Don't feel pathetic. You are strong! You haven't smoked for 159 days! Definitely something to be proud of. You did the right thing coming to the boards. Bring along some coping mechanisms and have a reward in place before you go out. You're right you do need some fun. That's what rewards are for. Use them to discover new passions. Your quit has given you the opportunity to fill your life with new challenges and experiences. Take full advantage. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

I feel pathetic...this far down the track, first big party since I quit and all I've done all day is wrestle with this thought....I'll just smoke tonight, buy a pack and throw them away at the end of the night.....I need to have some fun, I"ve turned into a doormat.... Anyway needed to get that thought out of my head to see how stupid it really is. Pretty annoyed with myself & just having a winge. Newbies dont stress. I havent had any other problems or cravings like this before. and I Think its just a senario I havent been in before and I'll get through it and not smoke and the next time I'm in the same senario it wont feel like this.
