Anyone will do it. Was it worth it? Dam right! For so many reason. Where do I start? Let me just say present day, I feel like I can out run that rat in the maze, swim with Rusty, worry less with Riverdale Man, be proud with Sunshine, show example to my family like CobenFan, live life to the fullest along with Lady, be so thankful together with pete, live simple without poison air side by side with N2K, hang in there with MD, have the desire to quit like Cuddles, insipiration same as Breaking Free, listen to music with Shevie,to know wisdom when it does come your way like zyban, to find my way as a better person with islandgirl, feel accomplishment same as Rob47... To you Duffis...you are all the above and more. Your soul is compassion, and beautiful. You have made this fight that much easier to handle with all your insightful,( we Love your humor) posts throughout the past months. Worth it? YES YES YES YES YES! Last summer I was working on living without smoking. This summer Im just plain living. Im taking a wheel thrown pottery class, swimming, biking, ENJOYING the air, volunteering at vacation Bible school, AND my one year reward is a trip to Paris with my son in August. Im also painting floorclothes, quilting and learning paper sculpture. Its AMAZING what you can do with the free time and smoking money. Bob, good to hear from you. Following along in your footsteps. Thanks for leading with grace and caring. CONGRATULATIONS FOR 70 BIG FAT WEEKS !!!!! Not cravin', never cavin'. How happy to see you, Duffis! I'm glad that smoking has made the fish bite better (I think JohnW will agree with you!) I agree with everything you said. I smoked for 40 years, a pack or two a day. I smoked with everything. I had no time for anything, because I was too busy smoking! Oh, the first days and weeks of my quit were hard! But I was so committed to my quit that I never wanted to smoke again. I see a few folks like that on here...knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will keep their quit no matter what. Quitting smoking has given me the gifts of time and energy. I work full time, I volunteer five hours a week, I walk or swim or go to the gym five hours a week. I have a butterfly garden and a little vegetable garden. Where do I find the time? I don't sit at the kitchen table or in front of the tv smoking. I used to spend so much time watching tv and smoking or just sitting and smoking. Not any more! When I quit smoking, I quit tv. It was a huge trigger for me, and now I rarely watch it. So, yes, to answer your question, it was worth it. Worth the struggle, worth the fights with my dear husband, worth the anxiety. Because now at 18 months I am free to spend my time in happier pursuits. Love you, Bob! Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 552 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,467 Amount Saved: $1932 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 23 Mins: 35 Seconds: 56
