As I was told, quitting itself causes a certain amount of stress. My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 305 Amount Saved: $51.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 18 Seconds: 54

I am not worried about my quit but I thought once a person quit smoking (which I'm 90 days into my quit and darn proud of it!) colds went away quicker. Well I've had this terribly head/chest cold for a week now and the funny thing is, I actually told myself I was so glad I didn't smoke because it FEELS as if I had already smoked 2 packs within an hour. I am glad I dont smoke, but geesh, I honestly (and probably naively) thought colds went away quicker since I wasn't corrupting my body with the all the junk they put in cigs. I also dont want to go to the doctors so they can tell me I have the common cold and let it take its course (and a waste of money). Any suggestions is welcomed!! Well, after reading the responses, I've opted for a doctor's appointment as I do believe (if my memoryis correct) I have a sinus infection that has gotten out of hand. Can't wait to go either because I am seeing the same doctor that was reluctant about my quit. He told me it was tough and not to get my hopes up on making it throught the first week. Well, now I get to show him who actually did make it through 90 days) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,266 Amount Saved: $364.5 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 23 Mins: 41 Seconds: 32

Hi Cheermom! Sorry to hear your sick - summer colds are the worst. Take it easy and get lots of rest and if you are still not feeling better in a couple of days go see your doctor - you never know you could strep throat or something. Hang in there and Congrats on your awesome quit! Hi Cheermom. This is just my opinion and I am in no way a doctor of any kind. I think it takes a long time for our bodies to heal from all the damage we caused over the years of smoking. Just be glad you quit. You may want to check with the doctor and see if there isn't something they can do to help. It stinks to be sick. Congratulations on your awesome quit! A cold takes about 7 days to beat under good circumstances. Could this be an allergy? Hang in there - you'll feel well again soon. Hi Cheermom, Congrats on those 90 days and sorry to hear you are under the weather. When I smoked every time I got the slightest cold it would end up in my chest and I'd have a lingering cough for about 10 days or 2 weeks. If I was around people that were sick (at work or school) I ALWAYS got it too. Now, I get sick much less frequently and it is very rare that my chest gets congested which is truly a blessing! Sore throats go away much quicker from what I've seen also. Hope you heal quickly and to answer your question...it just keeps getting better and better and better! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 761 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,232 Amount Saved: $3424.5 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 9 Mins: 8 Seconds: 23

Kim, Check with your pharmacist for help. You may need to go to the doctor to make sure it is just the common cold :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
