Dear Fish, I am a little under the weather, but I saw this and had to talk. Are you putting yourself out there?? Are you REALLY open to a new relationship? What is the worst thing that could happen? I always would tell myself, if they say no, what have I lost? NOTHING. If they say yes, I may gain a new friend or something more. If you're not ready to completely let go of the old g-friend then go talk to someone you trust (or a professional) to see why you are harboring thoughts of remorse or denial. Everybody feels bad once in awhile. I agree, you will come through the other side of this - keep up with your activities and when you're not expecting to find someone, there they will be. You have achieved a lot and I think you really have just astounded yourself. Acceptance of the new you may take some time. But you are a great NEW healthy you. Fish, you have a lot of friends here. You know where I'm at..... Hugz, CobenFan C'mon I'll buy you & me a beer over at the 6-12 club. Hi Fish!! I hope your spirits are lifted today, as you have received some kind words from your friends here. I was going to mention that you could seek help from a higher power, but I see that you've already made that step. However, are you really letting HIM in?? HE is the only one that can free you......... Please do not give up on the church councelour. You will find your heart does not hurt anymore if that is what you ask. But be patient my friend....... One more point ~ being without a significant other doesn't have to be bad. This is the perfect time to be selfish. Take this time for you, and only you. Seek what you want. Try new things. Keep your eyes open though, but one day, when you are not looking, it will happen. Hang in there my friend!! Go celebrate your AMAZING quit!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 212 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,375 Amount Saved: $693.24 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 2 Mins: 24 Seconds: 55

Hi Fish - You are a great catch! You smell so great and are in great shape - training for your big run... it might be that you need to focus in on yourself right now. There are many, many women out there that would be so lucky to have you as a friend and just be open to all the opportunities! Come on down to St Simons - I have plenty of single friends! Missed you at first glance, Stickintoit. I need to heed your advice and leave well enough alone, I know - sometimes I just can't seem to help myself, but I'm planning on keeping my promise to not contact her anymore. Thanks for your thoughts, fellow AshKicker. Thanks for your thoughts as always too, Lady - of course, you're right. And thanks for the offer - I don't think I've used yahoo IM since I last spoke with you, perhaps I should. Really, I feel a bit better already. Thank you all.

gonnadoit - yeah, after that description, I think I was thinking about asking you to marry me... - very funny - thanks for the laugh. I will not be speeding on my way home tonight. Actually, I'll probably have to get a cab as I think they're trying to sauce me up over at the 6-12 club. CobenFan - shucks, you're just about as sweet as they come. Hope you're feeling better. You hit it on the head - I don't seem to be able to let go. I am seeking counsel. He's a church couselor and I've been talking to him since the beginning, not sure I'm getting anywhere though. Maybe I didn't realize all of the friends I have here. Thanks and I'll take ya up on that beer...

I think I'm still in denial of losing my girlfriend at the beginning of this quit. I've gone on a few dates, but I'm not interested in any of them. And when I tell myself to take time away for myself, I wind up getting all depressed and lonely and I send some pathetic email to my ex and she either ignores me or replies rather matter of factly. But she also said that she liked the idea of a date with me; however, since she lives a couple of states away due to an employment relocation, it might be difficult. So, I get mixed signals. I guess I know it's over and she's just being nice by saying that, I'm just afraid of moving on. Therein lies the crux of my situation and perhaps a big step in my quit and my life - really trusting and believing in myself, having the confidence to succeed in my life, without self-sabotaging and giving myself an excuse to return to my addiction. Sorry for the ramble. I guess I'm just venting here as I'm feeling a bit frustrated. So many have such REAL problems and I find myself feeling sorry for myself for being nice and healthy but alone. I know I will make it to the other side of this. I don't think I can offer myself to another, wholly, until I do. Hope it's not too far down the road, but if it is, so be it - I'll crawl if I have to. Thanks for bearing with me. Aaargh. I guess life's just a drag sometimes, eh. Keep on keepin' on and... keep fightin' the good fight - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 285 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,574 Amount Saved: $1425 Life Gained: Days: 36 Hrs: 22 Mins: 55 Seconds: 41
