Having An "Off" day

Stormy - I'm glad you took the time to vent. That is why I love this room (I swear that I don't have any other friend or family member who would listen to me whine the way you guys do - always supportive) And don't we need that support on those blah days. Many people who have never smoked have no idea, but the people in this room do! I am sending warm thoughts from Canada and trying to blow all those nasty blahs away with our cold northern winds! Take care of yourself! I just felt like venting somewhat. I have the blahs for whatever reasons, and that little voice in the back of my mind is trying to stirr. It's whispering things like, "You know you're so tired of this struggle, and the easiest thing is to let go; Let go of this fight; Quit struggling with yourself; Coping would be much easier with a cigarette; Be yourself again; Go smoke and relax; enjoy; Free your mind; Your attitude has sucked ever since you gave up smoking; You was easier to get along with too". I already know what everybody is going to say. Do something to distract myself from thinking this way. I'm just tired of thinking and today is going to be one of those days. No, I won't smoke, but it doesn't stop the restless side of me from flirting with the thought. It's just one of those days when you feel kinda blah and your attitude shows it. Doesn't necessarily mean it's from not smoking. Heck everybody has bad days from time to time, but it's days like this when my old nagging thoughts want to take over and I'm just not in the mood for it. My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 532 Amount Saved: $247.5 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 57 Seconds: 9

I agree...everyone has blah days. I still have these random thoughts like yours, like I could take a smoke from my hubby, and its really OK. Of course I won't because I breathe better now. And smell better now. And am proud of myself now. I hit a really blue time around 3 months, cried at the drop of a hat, was really apathetic about my quit. But when I thought about it, I really was due for a cry, hadn't had one in AGES! And now I feel optimistic again.....just ride the waves, post here, and it will pass Andrea My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,129 Amount Saved: $503.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 23 Mins: 0 Seconds: 35

If we didn't have some down days, how would we REALLY appreciate all of our up days?! All of our pity pots get full from time to time. The important thing is that we remember to flush. It is when we don't flush that we get sucked into negative despair. Do not stuff your feelings. Get them out. So your pity pot is running over today? Have a good cry. Treat yourself with something nice. Get lots of hugs today. Go to the gym and work out some of that frustration. Get a really good nights sleep tonight. Rent a movie. Take a bubble bath. Eat out tonight. Post on here and get it all out. Talk to a friend about what is bothering you today. Then ... flush that pity pot ... all ready for a brighter tomorrow. (((((hugs)))))) Fondly, Free My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 132 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,976 Amount Saved: $528 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 3 Mins: 38 Seconds: 47

Stormy, Vent away, that's what we are here for. Everyone has their ups and downs and hopefully you'll get a vacation from the blahs soon. Until then, be kind to yourself. Have some fun and spoil yourself for staying smoke free. Be proud of those 66 days! They weren't easy to achieve but look at all the benefits they came with! BLAH Days happen even when we smoked, right? Maybe it's time to something special for yourself. When was the last time you gave yourself a reward? It's important to keep ourselves motivated - you're special and should be treated well. On the days where "it's all fetching and no pats on the head" THAT'S the time to head to the ice cream parlor. Take care and hope the grey cloud lifts up for you soon! Hi stormy,
No, I won't smoke, but it doesn't stop the restless side of me from flirting with the thought
We are absolutely in choice... Flirting with smoking is a choice, friend, and it's a dangerous choice... I learned some time ago that junkie thinking CAN sound, at times, just like my voice... I invite you to take some time and get really familiar with the junkie's voice - memorize the sound of that voice... so that you become acutely aware of the difference between yours and that of the junkie... Yes, distractions would have been my 2 cents... And this is your Quit, it's your process, dear one. We're right here - let us know ho we can support you :) Blessings- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,032 Amount Saved: $930 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 1 Mins: 24 Seconds: 56
