Cheryl - I'm sorry that no one was here last night :( I had just finished my class and final on Thursday night and went to bed very early :( You wrote a beautiful letter for us to read and learn by. I have read your post everytime I see them (because really, my name is Cheryl too) and to have someone like you as an example of a wonderful strong woman who has quit smoking means the world to me - so I feel close to you even though your quit is soo soo soo far ahead of mine. You are an inspiration to me! I hope that you were able to relax in the hot tub but didn't stay in there too long...we need to get ready for your huge celebration! On Independence day no less - what a great day it will be for you, your family and for us here on SSC because you have been such a huge support and encourager for all of us here who come behind you and I know for the Elders as well. Hope today is better for you - we care about you! This is really sad, I posted here two hours ago. Noone has even looked at the post let alone responded. I am so down that I am just going to go out and sit in the Hot Tub and let the misquitoes have me for dinner. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Wow, What drama we can think up when we have a sight like this with so many people going through the same things. Quiting Cigs was hard. It was time consuming, and it was scarey at times. It is now been 16 years since I took my last puff. I just turned 69 in September. This last 15 years have been some of the best in my life. We have traveled the country. Seen 4 very different Presidents in and out of offices, added three more wars to our history . Seen 2 grandsons into College and beyond and 2 grandaughter turn from unknowns into beautiful lyoung ladies.Been across the ocean twice, Visited places I only dreamed about, and saw so much of our beautiful Nation. Also seen some very sad things occuring, protest, bombings, school shootings just to mention a short list (others could add very many more). 6 Weeks ago my wonderful husband went home to be with his lord. After 9 days in the hospital with Covid. I was lucky and was able to talk to him on the phone a few times. I am so glad that I have not even had a thought to pick up a ciggerette. We had so much more life in those years. Just want to assure you that it was worth it. It is worth it. I wish to thank all the people who helped me through it. And just reading some of this again is helping me even now in a different challenge. But we here are strong and we will get through whatever it take to make it to the other side of the mountain. And when you get there donn't hold back on your celebration! The struggle is worth it! Nope Not One Puff and all the mantras that we make up help others as well. Don't know if anyone goes anymore but the island is a great place for a get togeather and party. Don't let Anyone stop you- not even You. Hang in you will make it. Sherryl.
