thank you windy! we will continue to be quitting twins! sure I will be here when you need me like a paul simon song...:) please take a look on this thread: Feeling ... Shakey it is really something! thanks I was reading this this afternoon: "Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past. If all time is eternally present All time is unredeemable. What might have been is an abstraction Remaining a perpetual possibility Only in a world of speculation. What might have been and what has been Point to one end, which is always present. Footfalls echo in the memory Down the passage which we did not take Towards the door we never opened Into the rose-garden." T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets thank you thank youuuuuuu!!!! Crush - Thank you for this honest post. I think that at times, we all get very close to losing our quit or at least fear losing it. Your post helps to remind me that I have nothing to gain. It also tells me that you are a very smart Quitter who uses your experiences to become stronger and more determined. Way to go! Hey Carpenter - Hold tight...It sounds like the 30 somethings are a tought time for alot of people. I suppose it's like losing weight. Part of us would like to believe that by quitting smoking we will make all of the problems go away. Unfortunately, despite our pride in our strength, there are still job stressors, illnesses, relationship problems and a whole lot of awful stuff that life throws our way. But I think you said it...same old stuff (Those things that are getting you down were bad even when you smoked - We fooled ourselves into believing that smoking made it better) I'm not sure how long you have been smoking, but, honestly, sometimes I feel like I am a 15 year old learning how to live all over again. And what did we reach for every time things got bad..........our smokes. It's easy for me say right now, because on this particular day I am doing okay, but we were miserable when we smoked. In addition to all the other stuff that I had to deal with, I had to work my life around my addiction. Sometimes, the stress became worse because I couldn't feed my addiction. Soooooooo...please Carpenter...hold tight.....and promise you'll be there to give me the same spiel when my turn comes. Sending as much strength as I can muster and tons of support from Cold Canada! I write this as I have just finished my last cigarette as a reminder for myself and for anyone else who is thinking of going back. I had a 40 day quit, that I lost in friday. The reasons for going back to smoking are not important what is important is how I feel right now. Curiously I don't have much remorse, maybe this is do to the fact this quit was a spur of the moment type of thing (or as much spur of the moment as any quit can be). The first cigarette I lit up didn't taste good. I'm going to be completely honest, it didn't taste bad, but it wasn't good. It also gave me a little headache. I didn't get any kind of "buzz" from that cigarette or any other one I smoked. I didn't get any kind of relaxed feeling, I didn't get any kind of feeling from it at all, other than the headache. by the end of the night I had the headache, and the soar throat. Thats all I got from smoking last night. Tonight I figured I'd finish the pack and then decide if I wanted to try to quit again. Well the first cigarette of the day also gave me no buzz or relaxation but the headache came back quickly. By the time I smoked my 7th and final cigarette the headache was gone by my throat feels like it was rubbed down with sandpaper. even after 40 almost completely smoke free days (I slipped and had one on day 6) I still didn't get that smokers release that I got when I first started. If any endorfins (sp?) or anything else was released to cause me pleasure I sure didn't feel it. All I feel is the "excitement" of having to go through hell and heck week again, and the hope that they won't be as bad this time. I do not regret my decision to smoke, it's in the past and I can't do anything about it now EXCEPT learn from it, and when the cravings creep up again rememeber what exactly these wonderful death sticks did for me.
