Joonie I am so happy for you that everything worked out for you. I am around smokers all the time and it is not easy, when I have had all I can take I just excuse myself and move away from them for a while take deep clean breaths after a while I can go back and face them again. Have a great time and keep your quit.

Hey Gang,
Sorry I haven't been around contributing lately. I took off a week to go look at a boat. Bought it. We're re-powering it and are heading to the Abacos for approx. 3 weeks. Yippee! I am very happy about that, don't get me wrong. I am a little worried though about Nippers Sunday BBQ. Lots of folks are going to be smoking there. I think this will be my first real heavy exposure to people appearing to have a good time w/ smoking. I am taking favorite quotes and posts w/ me and the Carr book. Think I'll also take hard candy mints. I also bought a relaxation CD. Any other suggestions will be appreciated cause I do plan on having some beers.
At my appointment w/ the Doc. He said things actually looked pretty good. Emphysema is still diagnosed but as a very mild case. I am tall for a woman so he feels the pulmonary physician miscalculated my lung size. He thinks that my oxygen absortion rate is better that what was indicated by my results. Overall they looked really good. So, I'll do the whole thing over again in a year. I guess he (the Doc) is not much of a phone person. Anyway, he is not concerned by my results....especially if I do not start smoking again.
Thought I forward the results of my consultation just in case anyone was interested. I really, really thank everyone for standing by and being here for me when the occasional shoulder was/is needed! The quitters here are the BEST!
I'll check in when I can. I'll be gone for most of July! Let's keep on keeping the quit!
Chow Mon!

Hi Ex-slave,
Great name by the way. The Abaco islands skirt the Bahamas. I am excited about going and am soooo thankful that the folks that we are sharing the house w/ are all non-smokers. So actually it may be easier cause of them. You know its funny...I smoked for so many years and can't wait to get to the point when I don't think about smoking at all. Gosh, I really don't want to go back to that slave behavior. I do not want to have something external controlling my life! Thanks for your support!

Joonie,
I'm glad that things are going well with your quit and with your health. When you are at the BBQ, try to stay relatively sober, meaning stick to one or two and don't let yourself start feeling tipsy. That's a surefire quit killer if you're not careful! It sounds like you're really prepared, though, and that's great! Have a great time and let us know how it goes. Just think how proud of yourself you will be when you come back here to tell us all that you made it!
Crave the Quit!
Pam

What is abacos? congratulations on 68 days. You know that you can't smoke. Remove yourself from the bbq if the cravings start to call out too loudly. Usually, the smokers are all outside, so you can go inside for some shelter from the smoke. Stay strong and enjoy your vacation.

Joonie,
Thank you for the update and we are glad it is going well! Preparation for the week-end is key and you are on the right track. Please try and ease up on the drinks as they can be a powerful force to fight! Use water between drinks as a coping mechanism and get out of the situation if necessary.
You have a powerful 67 days under your belt and you should be proud :) Touch base often and let us help if needed :)
Keep Strong,
Josie
