Does your non-smoking partner...

Keep an eye on you to make sure you're not smoking? I have tried to quit several times before and I remember a few times when I came home from the store, he would kiss me and discreetly smell me at the same time to see if I had snuck one in. lol Has this happened to anyone else? I realize that my husband really doesn't want me to start smoking again and I guess it's best that he does care than not care at all.

hi, my husband still smokes but he has cut down. Yes he smells and i hate it but what are you going to do. He has been very good about not smoking around me but I still smell it. The thing that I am learning is that I need to stay focused on me not him and be strong. Oh my gosh I must have smelled the worst My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 864 Amount Saved: $135.32 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 10 Mins: 57 Seconds: 4

The best thing I ever did was bring my husband into it on the very first day. He's a non-smoker but never ever pressured me to quit. Now that I have I realize how much he wanted it but I appreciate that he let me do it in my own time. Everyday we meet at the fridge to put a sticker on the calender. He rewards me in some way every single day. He is so proud of me! Also, our love life was always very good but has improved exponentially since I quit. To be honest there is a piece of me that feels a bit embarrassed about how bad I smelled when I smoked. Now that I can smell it on other people and its gross I wonder how he ever fell for me or how he kept quiet about how I smelled. I remember times when I would come in from a smoke and kiss him. I know I hadnt brushed my teeth before he proposed to me.... On really hard days when Im not sure if I can make it I think about these things. When I dont know if I can make it "for me" I definitely can make it "for us". I want to be attractive to him. I want him to take pride in me and I want to be together with him for at least 50 more years!! I actually do it with my husband because I am still quit but he fell off the quit wagon and tried to deny it for a couple of months. I think that it is better to get it out in the open, anyway. A person who is smoking, yet trying to pretend that they are quit to friends and family, is leading a double life. It promotes lying and secretive behavior. Hey, be honest! I like this topic. Because as a smoker, you really think that you can hide the smell from the other non-smokers...haha. It is soooo funny to think that a piece of gum and some body spray even masks the smell. My husband smokes, and before I never really noticed the total offense of the smell, but now it is HORRIBLE!!! I am so embarassed that I ever smelled like that.
