Bubba thanks for this post, it shows you have to be aware of this addiction and not take anything for granted. I might live till 85 now that I'm a non smoker. One day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,401 Amount Saved: $372 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 7 Mins: 38 Seconds: 20

Even some non-smokers think of 'trying' a smoke when around smokers sometimes. Now that I am a non-smoker, I know that I am no different. I'm super happy to be a non-smoker now. I wish I had become one a lot sooner in life, but am happy I finally did none-the-less. I'm glad I know first hand how nasty smoking is because it makes my decision to not smoke quite an easy one to make. I experience the same thoughts periodically when I am around my father. Sometimes I am even tempted to test the "just one" theory. The thought of being enslaved to the cigarette again and giving up my new life of freedom keeps me from testing those waters. Hey Bubba, It's just part of the "never ending battle for truth, justice, and getting your own way." ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 437 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,508 Amount Saved: $1245.45 Life Gained: Days: 57 Hrs: 6 Mins: 12 Seconds: 3

Yesterday a smoking neighbor came over and we were visiting in the garage. I do allow him to smoke there only in my home. I must tell you that when he reached for his pack of smokes I had this momentary lapse where I wanted a smoke. Then, I laughed and shared with him what I had thought. He then offered me a cigarette and I respectfully pasted. So you see, even after all this time it can come back to you. Lindsey PS - The fellow from next door is 85 years old. If I could make it to 85 I probably would smoke 12 big cigars and drink a quart of whiskey a day. Nay...probably not.
