Reward ideas!

17 years ago 0 2631 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Folks I keep hearing about the importance of rewarding yourself and I can see why this is very important. Smokes used to be my reward at the end of the day. Honestly, there really isn't anything that I am dying to buy. We don't have children, so, if I really wanted to, I could probably go out and treat myself. I already go out for supper/show with friends when the opportunity comes up. I guess that means I have been spoiling myself for way too long! I think that I need a reward at the end of the day and, honestly, I think I want it to be something that makes me feel relaxed, etc. How do you reward yourselves? Any ideas? Windy, Everybody's different, so think about what would seem like a treat *for you!* Doesn't have to be a new car, new pet or a fabulous vacation, though those are great things to work toward as a long-term reward goal. Scale it down a bit for "everyday," like: -- A bubble bath -- A cozy fire -- Time to read a favorite magazine -- A CD or DVD you've wanted to enjoy -- A massage or pedicure -- A nap in the middle of the day The possibilities are endless when you think about it. What makes you smile? Hi Windy, the importance of the reward is to get your brain to produce dopamine (pleasure hormone) without the nicotine, you see when you smoke 7sec after the puff the message has reached the brain ,it's a powerful drug. So I reward myself with scented bubble baths, I buy a lot of aroma therapy candles etc as this pleases me I light them and enjoy them. It can be a special candy I enjoy I'Ll have one after a meal only. It can be gardening I love gardening, watching a movie, I love going to the pharmacy just to smell the perfumes and check makeup. At the end of the week I reward myself with dinner at the restaurant or going to the movies and eat a big bag of popcorn, or I buy myself something special. And for monthly rewards it depends on my budget this month I bought a pair of suede boots. And for my 4 month reward I'm going to NY city with hubby and friends on a shopping spree. I'm only a 6 hour drive from New York. So you see every day rewards don't have to cost much just something that makes you smile. You're doing it you're quitting one day at a time :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 95 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,437 Amount Saved: $380 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 15 Mins: 14 Seconds: 55

Windy, There are many rewards threads in the archives here! This is a great way to share with one another and validate your quits. A pamper yourself day is always popular because this quit is about you and you always need you time. Come on members let's share those expensive, cheap, creative and fulfilling rewards with one another :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
