Hi Patty Im new to this site as well --found it in desperation the day before my quit day! I quitted 6th June at noon--sat outside with a coffee and a last "puff".. I am as you extremely TENSE--and anxious etc I have been smoking 26 years and tried before and failed. However-i have gained support in here and realised the past failure was not a failure but an experience. I am as you a bit worry about taking it up again, however this site is great :) log in often and talk away.. We are all in here to support each other. Let me know how you are going! Drink Water through a straw Chew Gum Inhale and Exhale deeply and slowly Exercise Read a Book Watch a TV show Clean the House ... don't forget to reward yourself ... ... most important make your brain stronger than this addiction ... talk positive to yourself ... talk negative to your cravings ... build yourself up ... tear your addiction down. Patty, You have made the one of the most important decisions in your life! Stay with it and be free of the slavery. Gosh, how we let ourselves be sucked into such a horrible lifestyle.... We can all do this with the right stuff! Patty, it's normal to be tense. It's an awesome thing, quitting smoking! Don't let your friends come between you and your quit. Hang on to it with all your might. Protect it like your child. If you think you'll be tempted and lose your quit, then maybe stay away from your friends for a bit. It's YOUR choice, to decide how important your quit is to you. But I will tell you one thing -- I smoked for 40 years and I'm here to tell you it can be done if you want it bad enough.
